TUESDAY, 11/27/18, MORNING MY CAR (100,00 TOTAL MILES DRIVEN) STARTED TO MAKE A PERIODIC SQUEAKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY TO WORK. I THEN TOOK IT TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP THAT SAME MORNING TO HAVE IT CHECKED. THEY SAID THAT THE PROBLEM WAS COMING FROM MY DRIVE BELT AND PULLEYS. THEY REFERRED ME TO THE FOLLOWING LINK: HTTPS://WWW.CARS.COM/RECALLS/MITSUBISHI-LANCER-2008/. ACCORDING TO THIS WEBSITE, MY CAR HAS A RECALL FOR THE DRIVE BELT AND PULLEYS. SO I WENT ON MITSUBISHI'S RECALL WEBSITE TO PUT IN MY VID NUMBER, BUT IT WAS SHOWING THAT MY CAR DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL. SO I PROCEEDED TO HAVE THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP REPAIR MY CAR ACCORDING TO THE RECALL INSTRUCTIONS SHOWN ON THE WEBSITE THAT HE REFERRED ME TO, WHICH INVOLVES REPLACING THE DRIVE BELT, PULLEYS, AND DRIVE BELT TENSIONER. 2008 MITSUBISHI LANCER OIL TRANSMISSION COOLER HAS CORRODED FROM NORMAL USE. THE CAR WAS MAKING A WANING NOISE WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE ALL THE FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT FROM THE TRANSMISSION COOLER DUE TO CORROSION. NO SENSORS OR ANYTHING WENT OFF, ONLY NOTICED UPON INSPECTION OF THE CAR ONCE I ARRIVED HOME. SIMILAR RECALL WAS MADE ON THE 2010 MITSUBISHI GALANT (HTTP://WWW.MITSUBISHISUCKS.COM/CARS/RECALLS/USA/201003.HTML) SO IT IS NO DOUBT THAT THE LANCER MOST LIKELY HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH A SIMILAR PART.

I EXPLAINED THAT THE CAR IS MAKING A NOISE AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THE CAR. THEIR RESPONSE IS THAT I SHOULD BRING THE CAR IN TO GET LOOKED AT. THIS NOW INVOLVES ME HAVING TO TAKE TIME OFF FROM WORK SO THAT I CAN TAKE IT THERE WHICH IS ABOUT 40 MINUTES FROM MY HOME. IF IT IS THE DRIVE BELT, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ANYWAY. I FEEL THAT IT IS NEGLIGENT AND A LACK OF CONSIDERATION FOR THE SAFETY OF THE PEOPLE DRIVING THE CARS TO HAVE A RECALL AND THEN HAVE PARTS ON BACK ORDER. THEY DEALER CLEANED THE MAP SENSOR AND THROTTLE BODY AND CHARGED THE CONSUMER. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND HE SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN CHARGED. MITSUBISHI STATED THE CONSUMER WOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE CLEANING, BUT HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE TOWING CHARGES. THE CONSUMER THEN LEARNED FROM THE DEALER, THE MAP SENSOR PROBLEM WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE CONSUMER STATED HE EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM ON TWO OTHER OCCASION, WHERE THE DEALER HAD TO SEND A MECHANIC OUT, TO CLEAN THE MAP SENSOR BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD BROKE DOWN AND WOULD NOT START.
