(McNeilus) is recalling certain model year 2010-2015 Zero Radius (ZR) Side-Loader Refuse Trucks, model 48, manufactured January 1, 2010, to April 10, 2015. The affected trucks are equipped with an air actuated transit arm latch that may loosen over time, causing the transit arm latch to unintentionally release, allowing the arm to extend beyond the...
Consequence: If the latch arm unexpectedly extends from the side of the vehicle, there is an increased the risk of a crash.

Defect: MCNEILUS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2012 ZR TRUCKS, MANUFACTURED FROM APRIL 26, 2010, THROUGH MAY 1, 2012 FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108 LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT. THE HAZARD WARNING LAMPS DO NOT WORK WHEN THE IGNITION IS IN THE OFF POSITION.
Consequence: INADEQUATE LIGHTING COULD REDUCE THE VISIBILITY OF THE VEHICLE, INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A CRASH.
Remedy: MCNEILUS WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND MCNEILUS SERVICE TECHNICIANS WILL CONNECT THE HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS DIRECTLY TO THE VEHICLES POWER SUPPLY, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN IN EARLY JUNE 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MCNEILUS AT 507-374-6321.
