WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY (APPROXIMATELY 60MPH), I HEARD A LOUD NOISE & I DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS AT FIRST. UPON LOOKING UP, I SAW MY CLOSED MOONROOF SHATTERED & I HAD TINY SHARDS OF GLASS ON MY SHOULDER & ON THE CONSOLE BELOW IT. I INSPECTED THE DAMAGE AFTER STOPPING A LITTLE LATER & THERE IS A CLEAR RIDGE OF SEPARATION. THIS WAS NOT FROM A ROCK OR OTHER OBJECT WITH ONE PRIMARY POINT OF DAMAGE.
MY CAR HAS BEEN MOSTLY STATIONARY AND KEPT IN MY GARAGE FOR 3 YEARS. THIS YEAR I EXPERIENCED THE DASHBOARD AND IGNITION AREA MELTING AND CRACKING. I FEEL IT MAY AFFECT THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE AIRBAG. ALSO, I DO NOT KNOW IF THERE MAY BE SOME SORT OF CHEMICAL RELEASE THAT IS NOT HEALTHY TO ME OR MY PASSENGERS. VISIBILITY IS ALSO A PROBLEM SINCE THERE IS A SEVERE GLARE FROM THE DASH ON TO MY WINDSHIELD.
