Remedy: Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will update the Restraint Control Module software, free of charge. The recall began on August 30, 2014. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is...

Most Recent Complaints

#11418459 | SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC | | 40,000 miles
The contact owns a 2013 Land Rover LR2. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the brakes failed to engage while the brake pedal was depressed. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the vacuum pump needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. The VIN was unavailable
#11395659 | POWER TRAIN | | 36,000 miles
CURRENTLY THE CAR HAS 36,000 MILES PER THE ODOMETER. TWO DAYS AGO, A HUMMING SOUND STARTED COMING FROM THE REAR UNDERCARRIAGE WHILE DRIVING, AND CONTINUED REGARDLESS OF SPEED. THIS WAS A NEW SOUND, ONE THAT SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING WAS WRONG, LIKE THE TIRE WAS ABOUT TO FALL OFF THE CAR. THIS WAS SCARY ESPECIALLY SINCE A CAR WITH THIS FEW MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE ANYTHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH IT. THE MECHANICS CONFIRMED THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, AND QUOTES ARE EACH AROUND $7,000.00! THIS KIND OF DEFECT SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE UNNOTICED BY LAND ROVER FOR SO LONG WITHOUT ISSUING A RECALL OR HAVING THE DEFECT ADDRESSED PRIOR TO FURTHER PRODUCTION OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A HUGE FINANCIAL BURDEN, EMOTIONAL BURDEN, AND ONE THAT COMPROMISED MY SAFETY. RESEARCHING ONLINE, THERE SEEMS TO BE NUMEROUS OTHER LR2 OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE THAT HAVE REPORTED FILING COMPLAINTS AS WELL.
#11270220 | ENGINE | | 98,500 miles
DRIVING AT A SAFE FREEWAY SPEED 70MPH, THE MOTOR SUDDENLY STOP WITH NO WARNING. AS THE CAR SLOWED DOWN, I WAS ABLE TO TURN ON HAZARD LIGHTS, MOVE TO NEUTRAL AND SAFELY MAKE MY WAY TO RIGHT SHOULDER. THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO START FOR OVER THREE WEEKS SINCE THEN.. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY WITH DEALER. IT WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH MY 3-MONTH OLD AND WIFE WITH ME, HOW DOES A CAR JUST STOP ON A HIGHWAY.
