2011 JEEP PATRIOT Structure Problems

The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the subframe inadvertently lowered. Additionally, the contact stated that the muffler was rusted. The TPMS warning light was illuminated. The contact notified the local dealer of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided a discount on the cost of the parts. The failure mileage was approximately 142,000.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was at the dealer for an unrelated issue, the contact was informed that the rear subframe was severely rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.

Front cross member (Subframe is completely rusted)Causing a loud thumping noise when applying brakes or driving over bumps in the road. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER CAR ON A DAY AFTER IT HAD RAINED. AS SHE STARTED TO TAKE OFF, WATER STARTED POURING OUT OF THE OVERHEAD INTERIOR LIGHT AND ALSO THE FRONT INTERIOR LIGHT. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AFTER A RAIN. THE RAINS COMES DOWN FROM THE SUNROOF SOMEHOW AND SETTLES IN THE UPPER INTERIOR LIGHTING SYSTEM. A YEAR AGO, I BROUGHT MY 2011 JEEP PATRIOT TO A CAR WASH. THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED, HOWEVER WHILE GOING THROUGH THE CAR WASH, WATER STARTED POURING THROUGH THE SUNROOF AND THE LIGHT FIXTURES, INSTANTLY CAUSING AN ELECTRICAL SHORT AND DAMAGING THE ROOF LINER AND THE CAR STEREO. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP. THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR TWO DAYS AND CALLED ME TO EXPLAIN THAT "THE CAR HAD DRIED OUT SO YOU CAN COME PICK IT UP." I TOLD THEM THAT I WAS HESITANT TO PICK THE CAR UP BECAUSE THERE WOULD SURELY BE ADDITIONAL DAMAGE THAT WOULD NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED I PICKED UP MY CAR THE STEREO AND LIGHTS STILL DID NOT WORK.
