TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING AND STALLED WHEN ENGAGING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS BEFORE THE SHAKING AND STALLING OCCURRED. ON TWO OCCASIONS THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AND THE SECOND TIME THEY UPDATED THE COMPUTER. TWENTY MINUTES AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER THE SHAKING AND RATTLING RECURRED AND HAS CONTINUED TO BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE DEALER CANNOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,200. UPDATED 5/14/09 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HIS FOOT WAS ON THE ACCELERATOR, IT JAMMED TO THE FLOOR. IT HAPPENED SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING MY NEW 2007 JEEP COMMANDER, IT WOULD GIVE A HESITATION WHILE SITTING AT STOP LIGHT OR WHILE IN PARK LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO DIE, IT WOULD ALSO REV UP THE ENGINE LIKE IT WAS ACCELERATING, WE TOOK IT IN A FEW MONTHS AFTER WE BOUGHT IT, THEY SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG AND DID NOTHING AT THAT TIME, IT CONTINUED TO DO IT, BUT WE JUST PUT UP WITH IT BECAUSE WE FIGURED WE'D HEAR THE SAME THING, (IT DON'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME WE DRIVE IT, JUST PERIODICALLY) SO NOW, IT'S DOING IT MORE INTENSELY, IT'S AS IF SOMEONE IS MASHING ON THE GAS PEDAL WHILE IN PARK AND ALSO AT STOP LIGHTS WHILE I HAVE MY FOOT ON BRAKES, ONCE IT HAS JUMPED FORWARD AND I THOUGHT I WOULD HIT THE CAR AHEAD OF ME. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE ENGINE STALLED UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE PROCEEDING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE ENGINE RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WITH THE GEAR SHIFTER PLACED IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION. THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE FAILURES OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU). THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE ECU; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMMANDER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD ASSISTANCE WITH MOVING THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE ENGINE RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE RPM'S RACED WITHOUT PRESSURE BEING APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM WAS RESET, BUT THERE WERE NO RESOLUTIONS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THERE ARE NO RECALLS LISTED AT THIS TIME; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURES LISTED IN DEFECT INVESTIGATION NUMBER EA07007. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND REMAINS AT THE DEALER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 11,000.

I FIRST NOTICED MY CAR'S ENGINE DYING OUT APPROX. 2 MO. AFTER PURCHASING IT. IT HAPPENED AT A RED LIGHT, AND I STARTED IT RIGHT BACK UP, AND THOUGHT NOTHING MUCH OF IT. ON APPROXIMATELY 6 OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER, THE VEHICLE HAS UNEXPECTEDLY JUST SHUT OFF COMPLETELY, STEERING WHEEL LOCKS SO YOU CAN'T STEER AND IT IS VERY SCARY. ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE A 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO WAS RIDING WITH ME ON ONE OCCASION. I AM NOW READING ONLINE OF MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS CAR WHO HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER, BUT I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY NEW CAR.
