Defect: THE TWO BRACKETS USED TO MOUNT THE TILT/TELESCOPING STEERING COLUMNS TO THE DASH MAY EXPERIENCE FAILURE DUE TO FATIGUE STRESS; CRACKS IN THE RADIUS AREA AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LEFT BRACKET COULD PROPAGATE UPWARD UNTIL BRACKET FAILURE OCCURS.

Consequence: FAILURE OF THE STEERING BRACKETS CAN LEAD TO LOSS OFVEHICLE CONTROL AND AN ACCIDENT WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.

Remedy: INSTALL NEW REDESIGNED STEERING COLUMN MOUNTING BRACKETS.
