My 2015 Hyundai accent started having problems with oil consumption around 65000 miles. I got it checked regularly and the mechanic noticed it after it was having issues accelerating and losing power then cutting off completely. I had to constantly check oil each week or sooner. A couple months later it started losing power on high way and there was a clicking/ticking coming from engine. I pulled over and cut it off. Then drove it slowly (under 30 mph) to car store down the road to add oil but it was fine. Was able to get back home on back roads going slowly. Mechanic told me there oil consumption was a problem with these types of cars and likely causing engine problems. The whole time I had problems the check engine, battery, and oil light would constantly come on and go off. When they hooked it up to see why...
My 2015 Hyundai Accent started having issues with oil consumption at about 80,000 miles or so. I was having to check and add oil to the vehicle regularly in addition to oil changes. The oil consumption issue got worse as the vehicle got higher in miles, having to check and add oil every 600-1000 miles approximately. I was not aware of the known issue with Hyundai motors and the oil consumption so I was not tracking milage or dates of adding oil unfortunately. At about 100,135 miles, the vehicle suddenly broke down on my way to work. There was no warning other than the oil consumption problem. The car RPMs got very high and the car started decelerating until it wouldn't go forward anymore and was stalled on the side of the road. I had the vehicle towed to a Hyundai dealership and at this time it waiting for the...
On [XXX] the engine in my 2015 Hyundai Accent suddenly failed while traveling on [XXX] near Milesburg, PA. While attempting to accelerate, the vehicle completely stopped. It was able to be coasted to the side of the roadway, but was unable to be driven after that. It was towed back to South Williamsport to Steve Shannon's garage (where it still sits). After inspection by the mechanics it was noted that there was a hole through the engine (not from puncture) to where they were able to watch the pistons moving from underneath. There were no warnings or issues prior to this event. This event put my brother, sister in law and two toddler nephews in danger as they sat on the side of [XXX] waiting an hour for me to get there to pick them up, as they were borrowing my vehicle to take a family trip to the Pittsburgh...
I have a 2015 Hyundai accent with the 1.6l engine and have had to put on 3 catalytic converters in less than a year. The last one only lasting 1 month. I have taken it to a shop and had all repairs done there as well as having spark plugs changed and had the sensors replaced.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle in the garage, approximately four hours later the contact was awakened by the dog and discovered flames coming from the garage. The fire department was called to the home and extinguished the flames. During the incident the home was partially destroyed and deemed unlivable and the vehicle was also destroyed. A fire report was taken at the scene. The home insurance inspector later indicated that the fire originated from the engine compartment of the vehicle. No physical injuries were reported, but the contact had experienced severe stress and anxiety from the incident. The manufacturer was not contacted regarding the incident. The local dealer was notified. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V651000(Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed...
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the contact was informed by someone on the road that their vehicle was emitting smoke. The contact pulled to the side of the road and then the vehicle caught fire. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a lot. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The origin of the fire was unknown. The fire was located in the engine and underneath the engine. The fire department extinguished the fire. A fire department report was filed. A police department report was not filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.
Okay, I'm going to try my best at explaining what I am experiencing. This is my SECOND Hyundai Accent. The first car I had was a 2004 Accent. The second car I have now is a 2015. Both cars have the same exact problem. And I am NOT fixing it. This is definitely a MANUFACTURING ERROR. It's so dangerous too, because my engine could just BLOW UP. Anywhoooo, both cars just BURN OIL LIKE GAS. I repeat, BURN OIL LIKE GAS. I need to check the oil every (at the most) 2 weeks because of how badly oil is just burning up. Also, there is a "Check Engine" code being thrown for something small in the EVAP System. Same cars, 11 years apart. Same problems!? I don't think that is right WHATSOEVER. I have researched ongoing recalls & expired recalls. To my disappointment, I find NOTHING. This is a MAJOR...
The contact's niece owns a 2015 Hyundai Accent. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle was stalling. The vehicle also made loud unknown ticking sounds. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. An independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure to be engine related. The contact also stated an unknown dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired; however, only the oil was changed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
My check engine light came on and stayed on, while the oil light appeared when my car was in idle and the engine began to knock. My AAA approved mechanic determined that the engine had a rod knock and the oil pressure at idle was only 3 psi. In other words, the the engine had completely failed and would have to be replaced. At 36,000 miles !I had the car towed to the local dealership where they confirmed this diagnosis and noted excessive metal debris in the oil and oil pan. My research revealed that an identical engine manufacturing defect had resulted in a class action suit against Hyundai which was settled in 2018. Hyundai was forced to replace the engines with new ones and cover all the owners costs for 3.9 million complainants. They also suffered a huge fine by the NHTSA. Because of Covid lockdowns, I had driven...
Engine blew
1 YEAR AFTER PURCHASING CAR, I HAD A CHECK ENGINE SENSOR SHOW UP. I TOOK IT IN AND A DIAGNOSTIC TEST SHOWED AN O2 SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I REPLACED IT AND THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE, SO I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY REPLACED IT AGAIN, AFTER WHICH IT APPEARED TO BE FINE. THEN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS LATER, IT BEGAN TO RUN POORLY AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY AND SEEMED TO NOT BE GETTING FUEL OR OXYGEN OR SOMETHING. I TOOK IT IN AGAIN AND ENDED UP HAVING A CATALYTIC CONVERTER PUT IT FOR OVER $500. IT RAN FINE FOR MAYBE A MONTH AFTER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN, IT WAS RUNNING POORLY AGAIN, LOSING POWER ALMOST STALLING OUT WHEN PUSHING ACCELERATOR, IT SMELLED LIKE BURNT OIL. I HAD OIL CHECKED AND CHANGED 3 TIMES DURING THE TIME THIS ALL WAS HAPPENING TOO BECAUSE OF...
AT FIRST IN THE BEGINNING MY CAR DOES IT ONCE IN A BLUE MOON; HOWEVER NOW EVERYDAY FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS MY CAR WOULD POWER DOWN WHILE BEING AT A RED LIGHT, STOP SIGN, OR IN MOTION. WHEN IT POWERS DOWN THE ENGINE AND BATTERY LIGHTS COMES ON. I WOULD HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART MY CAR. IT NORMALLY DOES IT TWICE EVERYDAY. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR MYSELF AND MY BABY. I'M SCARED THAT A CAR WOULD COME UP BEHIND AND HIT ME WHILE MY BABY IS IN THE CAR. I FEAR OUR LIVES. WHEN I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE FOR THEM TO CHECK AND SEE WHY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON THE CODE WAS ALWAYS CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I WENT TO GO GET THAT FIX AND MY CAR IS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. ALSO, WHEN MY CAR IS IN MOTION THE...

AIRBAG WARNING ON DASH RANDOMLY ACTIVATES. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR ENGINE FAILURE(SEIZED CRANKSHAFT) AND WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. TOLD DEALERSHIP ABOUT AIR BAG ISSUE AT THIS TIME. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR A COMPUTER UPDATE THAT I WAS NEVER INFORMED ABOUT. I GOT MY VEHICLE BACK ENGINE RUNS FINE BUT AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAS COME BACK ON AGAIN AFTER 5 DAYS. I AM NOTIFYING DEALERSHIP OF ISSUE TOMORROW (7/26/18).

THIS COMPUTER MALFUNCTION HAS CREATED DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. THE CAR IS UNPREDICTABLE AND HAZARDOUS TO ME AND EVERYONE IN TRAFFIC. 6/8/15: WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR COULD NOT MOVE. AFTER I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND THEN TURNED IT ON AGAIN, THE PROBLEM WAS GONE AND I COULD DRIVE. 7/27/15: THE PROBLEM RECURRED IN A SIMILAR FASHION, AGAIN AFTER STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. ONLY THIS TIME MULTIPLE LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH BOARD, AND THE CAR COULD NOT MOVE. AFTER RESTARTING I COULD KEEP DRIVING. 9/24/15: WHILE DRIVING, MULTIPLE LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH BOARD. A FEW MOMENTS LATER THEY WENT OFF, BUT THE TRIP ODOMETERS A/B RESET THEMSELVES TO 0. 1/17/17: THE SAME PROBLEM RECURRED. WHILE DRIVING, MULTIPLE LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH BOARD. A FEW MOMENTS LATER THEY WENT OFF, BUT THE TRIP ODOMETERS A/B RESET...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI ACCENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE ENGINE FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THERE WERE FRACTURES TO THE FRONT AND REAR OF THE ENGINE, AND THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,604. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI ACCENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE BATTERY AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
1) 6/8/15: WHEN I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STALLED. AFTER I TURNED IT OFF AND TURNED IT ON AGAIN, THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED. 2) 7/27/15: A SIMILAR SITUATION RECURRED, AGAIN AFTER STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THIS TIME MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, INCLUDING ENGINE OIL PRESSURE, PARKING BRAKE/BRAKE FLUID AND SOMETHING ELSE. THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. AND AGAIN AFTER TURNING IT OFF AND ON THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED AND THEN I COULD DRIVE. 3) 9/24/15: I WAS DRIVING AT THE SPEED OF 60 MPH. SUDDENLY MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND I WAS AFRAID THAT THE CAR CAN STALL. FORTUNATELY, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. THE LIGHTS STAYED THERE FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN DISAPPEARED. BUT ANOTHER WEIRD EFFECT OCCURRED: TRIP A MILES, WHICH WAS ABOUT 50, RESET AND STARTED FROM 0. MOST LIKELY IT IS A COMPUTER MALFUNCTION. WITH THIS ISSUE THE...
