Complete engine failure due to a known defect in the 1.5L Ford ecoboost engine in my 217 Ford Fusion. This has left me with a repair that will cost $8,000 to replace the engine for a vehicle with 98,000 miles. No assistance offered from the manufacturer after reaching out.
The Ford Fusion suffered a brake and engine failure. Ford mechanics claim it is due to a plastic part in the vacuum pump. This vehicle is completely unsafe and is prone to mechanical failures that snowball into hazardous driving conditions.
Check engine light came on, ran codes P0302, misfire on cylinder 2. Took to dealer, need to replace motor due to coolant leak in cylinder at cost of $8400 car only has approximately 80,000 miles on it
Brake failure - major near miss accident on Sunday March 26, 2023.
Shortly after turning on the car, the check engine light came on, but the car seemed to be running normal. After about 5 minutes, the wrench light came on. When this happened, I was unable to accelerate and the transmission was having difficulty shifting. I pulled over to the side to restart the engine to see if it would reset, and it did not. On the way to the dealership, the situation got worse, in terms of acceleration. After diag optics were run, it was determined the throttle body needs replacing.
2017 Ford Fusion Ex with the 2.0L Ecoboost engine. Check Engine Light came on (around 85,000 miles on the car - Jan 2023). Car is misfiring. Ford dealership diagnosed the issue as Coolant leaking into the engine block (which is causing the misfire). Dealership said to immediately stop driving the car due to coolant issue could overheat the engine (possible fire risk). Research on internet shows this is a widely reporting defect where coolant is leaking into the engine block. Fix is to install an entire new engine. Ford unwilling to admit defect due to extreme cost of having to replace engines. Cost of new engine installation is $7000 plus. Having a defective engine block that allows coolant to leak into the cylinders is a clear defect with multiple people having the same issue. I understand there was the same issue with another version of the Ecoboost engine on the...

THE CAR WOULD NOT START DUE TO THE THROTTLEBODY FAILED TO OPERATE. LUCKILY, THE CAR WAS PARKED WHEN THIS OCCURED AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO NEAREST FORD DEALER. WHO INFORMED ME IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING AND IT HAD FAILED DURING OPERATION, CAR WOULD HAVE COME TO A DEAD STOP WHILE DRIVING AND/OR IN MY CASE FAILED TO START. THEY SAID THROTTLEBODY GIVES THE ENGINE THE AIR IT NEEDS TO PREFORM. WE WERE OUT OF TOWN AND DUE TO DRIVE ON A MAIN HIGHWAY FOR TWO HUNDRED MILES AT 70MILES PER HOUR! I HAVE INCLUDED INVOICES FROM THE FORD DEALER, INVOICE FROM AUTO DEALER- WHO HAD REPAIRS DONE ON CAR, AND THE CARFAX REPORT-THAT DID NOT SHOW ANY THROTTLEBODY RECALLS OR REPAIRS, NOR DID THE AUTO DEALER'S REPORT. THE CAR WAS CERTIFIED FOR 21,953 MILES BY THE STATE OF FLORIDA AND CARFAX. HOW IS THAT A CAR'S THROTTLEBODY WOULD...
I had both a check engine light and wrench power train light come on. My vehicle was emitting white smoke from the exhaust and a sloshing water sound in my dash behind the steering wheel. My car has 96,000 miles on it and is serviced regularly. I had it at the dealership in Dec 2022 for an oil change and they didn’t indicate any issues. By Jan 2023 my car needs a new engine.

On July 21, 2022 I was driving my 2017 Ford Fusion I was driving on route 95 when my car started to over rev and began shaking, then I lost complete engine power. I nearly getting ran off the road from the cars behind me. Thank goodness I was in the right-hand lane when this incident happened. I had my 2017 Ford Fusion towed to Purvis Ford service center in Fredericksburg Virginia. The tech called me letting me know that my torque converter has failed and needs to be fixed. The cost was going to be $6,250 plus $200 diagnosis fee. I was made aware of the recall on the Fusions torque converter failure. I was told my Vin number isn't a part of the recall. I believe my car needs to be a part of this recall everything stated in the recall description my vehicle had done. What do...

The contact stated that another dealer informed her that the Customer Satisfaction Program was no longer valid. The...
2017 Ford Fusion with only 60k+ miles on it is having engine issues. Coolant leaks into the engine, resulting in a cylinder misfire which can cause an accident and significant engine damage—I now need a whole new engine. I am not the only Ford Fusion owner having this problem—numerous complaints have been made about this same issue. A recall should be issued as it is a defect caused by the manufacturer and the burden to repair or replace should not fall on the owner.
My 2017 Ford Fusion , with 58,228 miles on it has a bad engine, which is a known issue, yet not a recall. My engine overheated as I was driving on the expressway. I called Ford, case # CAS040244200, but my powertrain warranty expired 7/22 . Please read what has happened to others while their engine overheats while driving a 2017 Ford Fusion when coolant gets into the cylinder (in my case it's cylinder #3). Also Ford was aware of this issue...TSB# 19-2208, but has yet to place a recall
Coolant levels low, coolant leaking into the engine. Check engine light on and ODBC reader says cylinder misfire.
Engine coolant leaking into cylinder #3. Check engine light on and code says engine misfire. Coolant very low and if I had not caught it would have eventually blown up the engine possibility causing a catastrophic accident. After research and talking to the dealer this is a very common problem in the Ford EcoBoost 1.5 and 2.0 engines with as little as 10,000 miles! White smoke pours out of the exhaust on startup each morning with the smell of burnt coolant in the air.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at the local dealer for routine maintenance, the contact was informed that engine oil was discovered leaking from the oil pan. The contact was advised that the engine oil pan needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 33,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made abnormal sounds and hesitated to accelerate. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a hole in the engine causing fluid to leak. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 66,906.
The contact's son owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the vehicle would fail to start up after multiple attempts. Additionally, the vehicle stalled while driving at various speeds without warning. The contact also stated that white and blueish colored smoke was coming from tailpipe. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and a diagnostic test discovered that coolant had leaked into the engine cylinder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.
Vehicle started making noises from the gas cap like vacuum noises. After refueling, car seem like it was having problems starting. After letting it sit for a couple minutes at the gas station, the car cranked but started putting like it wanted to turn off. Got to a red light and car suddenly turned off. Message shown on dash : Auto StartStop disabled. Manual Start Required. Car still wouldn’t crank. Got a scanner hooked up to the car and it said Evap Purge Solenoid Valve. There were recalls on this type of problem but not the same engine size. This could have caused a fatal accident had traffic been moving.
I am filing a complaint in regards to the KNOWN safety issue with these cars. My coolant is leaking into cylinders 2 & 3. 60,000 mi, very well maintained vehicle. This can cause fire while driving. My wife and kids use this car. Please do something about this. This many of same problem is a recall, class action? Thank You.
All right, so I have a little bit of bad news for you, so we hooked up a code reader to the car. And there were a couple of misfires. So there's a cylinder to misfire a cylinder or a random misfire detected, a cylinder 3, misfire a cylinder one misfire. So our service advisor thinks that it's probably not an issue with a coolant. An issue with the head gasket, and he would recommend that that gets replaced. And he said, at some point, you might need to replace the entire engine.
Engine dash light keeps coming on. A mechanic check engine number and printed TSB19-2346: 2.0L EcoBoost Ana says it’s under recall. But Ford dealerships around me refuse to do anything about it it. The error message is saying 2nd cylinder miss fire. Coolant keeps going low and car started to shut itself down.
I have a 2017 Ford Fusion bought in June 2020. (No warranty) Oct 2020 the Transmission went out. I REPLACED IT. August 2021 the Wrench 🔧 came on and was giving code P0302 cylinder 2 was misfiring. Changed all the spark plugs and coils except #2 because the was stuck or stripped. 5 people and Ford dealership (they wanted to much) tried to get it out (no luck) took it to a shop they got it out but had to re thread it. It drove fine. THEN one day I'm driving and my car literally started over heating and said I was low on coolant pulled over and let it cool down gave it more coolant. Drove it like nothing to see here. Everything was fine, SO I THOUGHT 1 week later it did the same thing but the coolant kept running out and my car immediately started to blow...
My Daughters Words: In all my life we have owned ford vehicles, and never in my 18 years have I experienced a situation such as I have with the 2017 ford fusion my mother purchased after our 2018 car accident. In the past year I have become the primary driver of the fusion. At first nothing seemed to be wrong, a simple check engine light. I immediately went to the local AutoZone and used the code checker to see what the light was signaling. The code stated a misfire in cylinder 2, so we took it to Shealy's auto in Cayce for a deeper look and spark plug replacement. After Mr. Shealy and his team replaced the coil, and the spark plugs all was fine for a few days. We received the car back and two days later the check engine light returned. This prompted a swift return to Mr....
3/22/22 Check engine light illuminated and had cylinder 3 misfire code P0303. This was around 4 PM. Car was driven home and sat in driveway until 8 PM. Went to go pick up dinner, and rough idle began and interior heat was not working at all. CEL was still illuminated but car was driving fine. Did notice a sort of "vinegar" type of smell that quickly went away after driving. 3/23/22 Remote started vehicle to go to work and then I realized billows of white/blueish smoke were coming out of the exhaust. Ran outside and shut the vehicle off. Towed to McGovern Ford of Framingham in Framingham, MA. Complete engine failure due to coolant leaking into the cylinder. This all happened very quickly. The second the engine light came on, I scheduled the first available appointment on April 18, 2022. Less than 24 hours later it resulted in complete engine...
on 2/13/2022 while in Orlanda Florida only at @ 29K miles, engine light came on steady, but with no rise in temp - Dealer told me to drive it home (Chicago) it went out, then later came on solid again running rough, with leaking fuel and coolant inside and outside, and burning smoking exhaust and at strong smell of fuel everywhere = Fire hazard. Another delaer replaced long-block and told me it was a known issue found on an internal Ford Tech Serv Bullettin they were not allowed to give or show me. Should have been recalled.
Coolant is leaking inside the engine and is contaminating oil. Noticed it during oil change. There are others in online forums with the same issue over many years to current. This is a huge issue as there is a flaw in the engine design concept and the only fix is to replace the engine or a majority of the engine.
THE CAR STALLED A FEW TIMES WIHILE ON MY WAY HOME WITH NO WARNING HAD TO RESTART THE VEHICLE SO AS I NEEDED TO ACCELERATE OR SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE WOULD START SHUDDER AND JERK AS IT FELT LIKE IT WAS SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. I HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY HOUSE LOOKED UP ISSUES IT SAID IT MAY BE TRANSMISSION SO THEN I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUSINESS AND WAS INFORMED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALER THAT THERE WERE 2 RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH MY VEHICLE THE RECALLS WERE THROUGH THE NHTSA VEHICLE SAFETY REPORTS. (POWER TRAIN) AND (TORQUE CONVERTER). HOWEVER MY VEHICLE WAS THE 1.5 VERSION AND WAS HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS AS THE 2.1 VERSION BEING COVERED THROUGH THE VEHICLE RECALLS. SINCE MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED I DID NOT HAVE IT REPAIRED....
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed with coolant leaking into the engine. The vehicle was then taken to a local dealer where the diagnostic test result was confirmed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and the contact was awaiting a response. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
Loses power .. Cylinder misfire P0301 Diagnostics
Coolant leak to the engine.
Timing cover oil leak. Dealer said this is a know issue on Ford Fusions, but warranty expired at 60,000. My vehicle has 69,902 miles. $2,800 repair estimate.
The engine overheated with no warning. The first time this happened was in traffic, and luckily the warning quickly went away. It seemed like a bug or maybe a faulty thermometer. Then it started running rough on startup and I noticed the coolant was empty. White smoke from the tailpipe. It was affected by the coolant intrusion TSB 19-2346, confirmed by the dealer. No CEL or other malfunction indicator besides the overheat warning. As the car was out of warranty at 80k miles, I was made to pay $3k (normally $8k) for a new engine.
The light keeps going on and off to check engine and there is a code for misfire in cylinder 2 and I had the spark plugs change and had the coil packs check and also constantly filling the antifreeze up my mechanic says to call Ford because of the issue that was posted and I tried but they are giving me run around and saying there’s nothing out there for this problem but there is and I only had the car 3 years and less that 60k on it what do I do now to fix it
Have had engine light on for months, have taken it in to be fixed and finally I was told it is from coolant intrusion into the cylinder 3 that i would need a new engine. Ford refused to fix it because it has 80k miles on it (bought it used at 56k) I have an extended warranty through the place i boughr it but its been weeks waiting on their decision to fix it or not. 6k to fix a car ive had less than 2 years and this is a know. issue, so well known the warranty place is only allowing new engines to approved cases and the new engines are the same price as rhe rebuilt ones!! Ford knows rhis is an issue, every mechanic i have spoke to knows this is an issue, theres service bulletins but no recall on the 2.0l ecoboost, just the 1.5.. why?...
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a parts store for the vehicle to be diagnosed. The contact was informed of a cylinder misfire on cylinder #2. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be repaired however, the failure persisted. The contact took the vehicle back to the mechanic who replaced three additional cylinders however, the repairs failed to fix the vehicle. The mechanic diagnosed the failure as a coolant leakage into the cylinder but could not repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 129,000.

The contact stated he was able to park on the side of the road and restart the ignition before driving to his destination. The contact took the vehicle to 2 different independent mechanics and was informed the fourth cylinder was needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but he continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing the engine to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.
My car has 77,116 miles. The check engine light came on. Took it to the dealership. Engine was blown. Coolant intrusion into #2 cylinder. The engine had to be replaced. According to the dealership this is a known problem with this engine fords aware but not recalling it. Looked online and a ton of exact same complaints
Shift linkage keep detaching from the the transmission causing the transmission too slip. It detaches often it’s been going on for 2 months now. I called Ford dealership to see have they heard of this problem and they answer was no. It might be a recall on this vehicle.
check engine light on with misfire code reading. replaced plugs, coil packs, replaced again by dealer, now it is eating antifreeze, adding it every few days, heat doesnt work when needed. today it notified that it was over temperature, so pulled over and added more antifreeze.
MY 2017 FUSION, WITH ECOBOOST ENGINE BEGAN USING COOLANT, REPLACED SPARK PLUG IN 2ND CYLINDER AND CONTINUALLY HAVE TO ADD COOLANT TO KEEP CAR FROM OVERHEATING. CAR SHUT DOWN AND OVERHEATED ON WAY HOME FROM WORK. ADDED EVEN MORE COOLANT. FORD NOW TELLS ME WE HAVE TO HAVE A NEW ENGINE AND WE ARE OUT OF WARRANTY SINCE CAR HAS 80K MILES ON IT. $5900 NEW ENGINE BECAUSE A KNOWN ISSUE HASN'T BEEN ADDRESSED BY FORD TO MAKE IT RIGHT.
