FORD SOLD ME A 2014 FORD FUSION WITH A FAULTY ENGINE BLOCK. MY ENGINE HAS COMPLETELY FAILED FROM COOLANT ENTERING THE CYLINDER AND FORD WILL ONLY FIX THE 1.6 AND UP ENGINE
MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED INA ACCIDENT 11/25/2019 WHICHI RESULTEED IN A DDER HITTING THE CAR. THE CARS BODY WAS REPAIRED AS WELL AS THE RADIATOR AND THEN MARCH 2020. THE CAR SHUT COMPLETED DOWN. I WAS ADVISED TO CHECK TO SEE IF THIS WAS RECALL BECAUSE THE CAR NEVER WORKED AFTER THE DEER HIT IT. THE COOLANT CONTIUED TO BACK INTO THE ENGINE CAUSING COOLANT INTRUSION INTO THE CYLINDERS. EACH TIME WE PUT MORE IN IT RAN OUT OR INTO THE ENGINE.
WITH ABSOLUTELY NO PREVIOUS ISSUES, THE CAR STARTED OVERHEATING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME AFTER TURNING ON THE HEAT (ON A 90 DEGREE DAY) AND RIDING IT OUT. IT TURNED OUT MY CAR WAS OUT OF COOLANT, WHICH WAS ODD. WE FILLED IT AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN MY CAR SAT FOR ABOUT A WEEK, THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AND WHEN IT WAS JUMPED EVERY WARNING CAME UP ON MY DASH AND MY ENGINE WAS IN LIMP MODE. TURNS OUT MY CYLINDER CRACKED AND COOLANT WAS FLOODING MY ENGINE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, IT TURNS OUT IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE MODEL'S ENGINE AND FORD HASN'T DONE ANYTHING TO REMEDY IT.
I BOUGHT MY 2014 FORD FUSION FROM USED CAR LOT HAD IT FOR 2 YEARS I KEEP MAINTENANCE UP IN TIMELY MANNER. ABOUT 6 TO 8 MONTHS AGO MY CAR HAS NO POWER WHEN DRIVING IT JERKS LIKE I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND AND WHEN CHANGING LANES I TRY TO SPEED UP I PRESS GAS PEDAL BUT CAR GOES NOWHERE ONLY HIGH REVVING SOUND TAKES A MINUTE TO PICK UP SPEED ITS USES ALOT OF GAS AND 4 MONTHS MY SEAT BELT HAS TROUBLE LOCKING IN BELT. I STILL HAVE AND DRIVE MY CAR TO AND FROM WORK BUT ITS ONLY GETTING WORSE
WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY, MY 2014 FORD FUSION 2.0L ECOBOOST STARTS TO OVERHEAT. WHILE TRYING TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL TO INCREASE THE SPEED, THE CAR TAKES A WHILE TO INCREASE THE SPEED AND AT THE SAME TIME THE TEMPARATURE GAUGE IS GOING UP AS WELL UNTIL I GET THE OVERHEATING NOTIFICATION ON MY CAR. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN MY DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHILE THERE WERE CARS BEHIND ME. I HAD TO GET OUT OF THE FREEWAY AND EXITED ON THE FIRST EXIT I SEE. I STOPPED ON A CURB OF A STREET AND OPENED THE HOOD OF THE CAR TO CHECK WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT AND I SAW THAT THERE ARE COOLANT ALL OVER MY ENGINE AND THAT MY COOLANT LEVEL WAS EMPTY EVEN THOUGH I FILLED IT UP ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. I HAD TO REFILL MY COOLANT A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN THE...
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IT BEGIN TO SPUDDER AND HAD HARD TIME GOING. WHITE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM TAIL PIPE AND WHEN I PULLED OVER AND POPPED THE HOOD THERE WAS SO MUCH SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE WHERE YOU PUT OIL IN. I WAS AFRAID IT WAS FIXING TO CATCH ON FIRE. EVEN HAD SOMEONE PULL UP BECAUSE HE THOUGHT IT WAS ON FIRE. MY CAR WILL NOT START NOW.
WHEN THE ENGINE GETS TO A WARM TEMPERATURE AND THEN SHUT OFF AND LEFT FOR 10 OR SO MINUTES, WHEN THE ENGINE IS RESTARTED, PUT IT DRIVE, WITHIN SEVERAL SECONDS (15 SECONDS TO 120 SECONDS) IT WILL BEGIN SHUTTERING AND DIE WHILE DRIVING. RESTARTING THE ENGINE AFTER IT QUITS (WHICH TAKES ABOUT 2 SECONDS, LONGER THAN NORMAL) WILL START AND WILL AGAIN DIE WHEN BEGINNING TO DRIVE. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE FOR ABOUT 5-6 MONTHS ON MY FORD WITH +/- 66K MILES. THE ISSUE IS GETTING WORSE AND MUCH MORE FREQUENT. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR DIAGNOSTIC CODES ARE PRESENT. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN TURNING ONTO A BUSY ROAD AND IT IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE OF A SAFETY CONCERN. I DO NOT EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE FOLLOWING A COLD ENGINE START.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,801.
ACCELERATING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN VEHICLE SUDDENLY BECAME UNRESPONSIVE AND SLUGGISH. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING. PULLED OFF HIGHWAY. HAD IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALER. THEY CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS A KNOWN AND COMMON ISSUE ON THE 1.6L AND 2.0L ECOBOOST ENGINES WHERE COOLANT LEAKS INTO THE NUMBER 4 CYLINDER CAUSING LOW COMPRESSION AND POTENTIAL OVERHEATING RENDERING VEHICLE UNDRIVABLE. FORD QUOTED ME $6,500 FOR A NEW ENGINE, AS THEY STATED, IS THE ONLY FIX. CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT BE ON THE HOOK BECAUSE OF A CLEAR AND OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW AS STATED BY FORD INCLUDED IN THE 1.6L ECOBOOST RECALL, BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL TO INCLUDE THE 2.0L ECOBOOST ENGINES. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I GOT THE NOTIFICATION THAT MY CAR WAS RUNNING HOT. I WASN'T TO FAR FROM HOME SO I DECIDED TO KEEP DRIVING, WHEN I SLOWED DOWN IT WOULD LEVEL OUT BUT WHEN I WOULD SPEED UP I WOULD GET THE NOTIFICATION AGAIN. MY HUSBAND PUT COOLANT IN IT THAT DAY BUT WITHIN TWO WEEKS WE GOT THE NOTIFICATION AGAIN AND HAD TO PURCHASE MORE COOLANT TO PUT IN THE CAR AND THEN ANOTHER TWO WEEKS WE GOT THE NOTIFICATION AGAIN. HAD TO PUT EVEN MORE COOLANT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THAT MY COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO MY ENGINE AND IT WILL BE 6500 TO REPAIR. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM AND OTHER FORDS HAVE HAD RECALLS DEALING WITH THE COOLANT BUT MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THOSE RECALLS. *TR
MY 2014 FORD FUSION HAS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE AC/HEATER JUST COME ON FULL BLAST SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES NOT AT ALL.. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN I'M TRYING TO DRIVE IN BAD WEATHER. THE PROBLEM BEGAN IN FEBRUARY 2019 WHEN THE DESCRIBED CAR BEGAN TO STALL WHILE IN DRIVE, REVERSE AND/OR PARK. CAR SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND THEN DIES STATING 'PRESS BRAKE TO START'. AFTER THE CAR IS PUT IN PARK, TURNED OFF AND BACK ON, CAR RESUMES NORMAL FUNCTION. AFTER FIRST TAKING IN THE CAR, THE TURBOCHARGER WAS FOUND TO BE THE CULPRIT. AFTER GETTING A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR DONE, THE PROBLEM RETURNED SHORTLY AFTER. TRAVELING ACROSS THE COUNTRY, THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. AFTER RETURNING HOME AND HAVING MORE WORK DONE, THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. WHEN ON CITY ROADS, IN THE DRIVEWAY OR PARKING LOTS, THE STALLING CONTINUED. IN ONLY NINE MONTHS, THE NEW SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND TWO ENGINE COILS HAD FAILED. THEN AFTER THIS WORK WAS COMPLETED, THE PROBLEM CONTINUED BUT NO ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON. MY CAR'S ODOMETER READS 49,343 MILES AND THE WATER PUMP HAS ALREADY FAILED. I BELIEVE THIS PART MAY BE DEFECTIVE.
I PURCHASED MY FORD WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER THE WARRANTY. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER BECAUSE I WAS LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING IN A CERTAIN GEAR AT A CERTAIN RPM AFTER THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A WIRING ISSUE WHICH I HAD THE DEALER FIX. BY THIS TIME I WAS CLOSE TO THE WARRANTY BEING UP. IT DIDNT FIX THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER INTERMITTENTLY OR STUTTERS. I GET P0352 CODES. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH IT BECAUSE IT IS INTERMITTENT BUT RECENTLY THE WIRING HARNESS MELTED ON AN IGNITION COIL. I HAVE REPLACED THE IGNITION COILS, THE PIG TAIL, THE SPARK PLUGS, CHANGED TRANSMISSION FLUID, RECHECKED ALL THE CABLES, AND ONCE THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE PCM. IT HAS TO BE THE TRANSMISSION BUT BECAUSE IT IS INTERMITTENT THE DEALER CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I ACTUALLY LOST POWER ONCE...
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER DRIVING FOR 4 HOURS THE COOLANT OVERHEATING LIGHT FLASHED ON BUT WENT OFF THE TEMP GAUGE WENT FROM COOL TO HOT AND BACK TO COOL. CAR SPUTTERED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL I PUSHED ON GAS TO KEEP IT FROM CUTTING OUT BUT I HAD GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN AND IT BARELY GAVE IT A BOOST CAR RELUCTANTLY KEPT MOVING UNTIL ABOUT 45 MIN DOWN THE ROAD THE COOLANT OVERHEATING LIGHT STAYED ON AND CAR SPUTTERED AND TOTALLY DIED. NEXT DAY WAS TOWED AND THEY REPLACED THE OXYGEN SENSOR. CAR WAS LOW ON COOLANT BUT THEY COULDN'T FIND A LEAK. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE FOR 2 DAYS BEFORE EVERYTHING HAPPENED AGAIN. WHILE AT THE MECHANIC, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT HER VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER: SSM 48150. THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE OF $4,500 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 59,000.
TURBO ON THE ECO BOOST ENGINE FAILED WITHIN 70,000 MILES RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF POWER
MY 2014 FORD FUSION WITH 54,000 MILES HAS AN ENGINE PROBLEM. SOMEHOW THE COOLANT/ANTI-FREEZE WAS ALLOWED TO LEAK INTO THE ENGINE. INITIALLY I SENT IT TO FORD OF WAXAHACHIE, TX WHEN THE LIGHT FIRST CAME ON. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS LOW COOLANT AND SENT MY CAR HOME. 5 DAYS LATER I'M 20 MILES FROM HOME AND IT OVERHEATS AGAIN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. A DEGRADED SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING THAT DETACHES FROM THE TRANSMISSION MAY ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION TO BE IN A GEAR STATE DIFFERENT THAN THE GEAR SHIFT POSITION SELECTED BY THE DRIVER. THE CONDITION COULD ALLOW THE DRIVER TO MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO 'PARK' AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, WHILE THE TRANSMISSION MAY NOT BE IN 'PARK,' WITH NO WARNING MESSAGE OR AUDIBLE CHIME. LOUD NOISE FROM PASSENGER SIDE OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE WHEN WE STARTED THE CAR ON THANKSGIVING DAY. WE TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC WHICH IS 2 MILES FROM OUR HOME.
