WHEN GOING AROUND CURVES, HITTING SMALL BUMPS, OR STOPPING, THE FRONT END STARTS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. SLOWING DOWN OR STOPPING IS THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE SHAKING. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TAKEN TO SEVERAL REPAIR SHOPS WITH NO AVAIL. THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY DANGEROUS. I'M GETTING SCARED TO DRIVE IT.
DRIVER WAS LEAVING BASE YARD WITH 2004 FORD F350 SD. WHILE DRIVING ON A SIDE STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THERE WAS A TOTAL LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A CHAIN LINK FENCE AS THE DRIVER WAS TRYING TO BRAKE TO A STOP. THE STEERING SECTOR SHAFT SHEARED OFF RIGHT AT THE PITMAN ARM.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WITH MY 2004 F-350 DUALLY WITH MY DUMP TRAILER ON THE BACK. I WAS HEADED DOWN A SLIGHT HILL WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE. THE FRONT WHEELS STARTED TO MOVE BACK AND FORTH FROM LEFT TO RIGHT AND RIGHT TO LEFT VERY FAST BUT IN SHORT STROKES. THE SHAKING AND THE STROKES BEGAN TO GET LONGER SO THE WHEELS WERE TURNING MORE AND MORE EACH TIME THE WHEELS TURNED BACK AND FORTH.. THE SHAFT THAT COMES OF OF THE STEERING BOX THAT GOES TO THE PITMAN ARM SHEARED IN HALF. THIS CAUSED ME TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE TRUCK BECAUSE I HAD NO STEERING. WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES THE WHEELS LOCKED COMPLETELY RIGHT, CAUSING ME TO GO OFF THE HIGHWAY, I HIT A BANK ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY HEAD ON, THEN THE TRAILER PULLED ME AROUND 180 DEGREES AND...
2005 FORD F-350 CREW CAB DUALLY, 2 WHEEL DRIVE EXPERIENCED FRONT WHEEL OSCILLATION (AKA "DEATH WOBBLE") WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH ON INTERSTATE 10 EASTBOUND NEAR BLYTHE, CA. THE TRUCK SHOOK SO BAD I NEARLY DROVE OFF THE HIGHWAY BEFORE I SLOWED DOWN ENOUGH FOR IT TO DAMP OUT AND STOP SHAKING. I HAD A SLIDE IN CAMPER ON THE TRUCK AT THE TIME. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE F-SERIES FORD PICK UP TRUCKS AND FORD HAS DONE LITTLE TO RESOLVE IT. THE TRUCK IS PURE STOCK WITH ONLY 35,600 MILES ON IT. MY EXAMINATION OF THE STEERING LINKAGE REVEALED NO LOOSE OR WORN BALL JOINTS OR TIE ROD ENDS. *TR
2004 FORD F-350 WITH A OIL LEAK. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE OIL LEAK WAS BETWEEN THE ENGINE BLOCK AND THE BELL HOUSING FOR TRANSMISSION. HE STATES THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED 7-8 TIMES FOR THE SAME OIL LEAK. *KB THE MANUFACTURER STATED EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS OIL SEEPAGE, THERE WAS NO SAFETY OR DIESEL ENGINE DURABILITY ISSUE INVOLVED. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE OIL LEAK WAS NORMAL. THE MANUFACTURER'S OPINION WAS THAT THE OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE OIL PAN, HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER DISAGREED WITH THEIR FINDINGS. THE STEERING DAMPER WAS REPLACED DUE TO A LEAK. *JB
DT: THE CONSUMER OWNS A 2004 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY. THE STEERING LOCKED AND THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *JB THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED EVERYDAY. *NM
