TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DURING HEAVY RAIN AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND STALLED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. HOWEVER, HE ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK WHEN IT RAINED IN ORDER TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
2012 FORD F-150. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AS HE TRIED TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE, HE FLOORED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BUT THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK OFF THE MAIN INTERSTATE AND INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HE LET THE TRUCK SIT IN THE OFF POSITION FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES AND THEN HE RE-STARTED THE TRUCK. AT THAT POINT, HE WAS SLOWLY ABLE TO ACCELERATE WHILE IN THE EMERGENCY LANE, TO A SPEED THAT ALLOWED HIM TO RE-ENTER THE INTERSTATE. ALL ATTEMPTS TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY FAILED AND IT WOULD ONLY ACCELERATE GRADUALLY AT SLOWER THEN NORMAL SPEEDS. I WAS MERGING ONTO AN INTERSTATE, ACCELERATING FROM 20 MPH TO 65 MPH TO BLEND IN WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SPIT, SPUTTER AND SHAKE AND BOGGED DOWN AND WOULDN'T EXCEED 50MPH. WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER COMING I HAD NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO ABORT MY MERGE AND PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I THEN WAITED FOR ALL TRAFFIC TO SUBSIDE BEFORE I MADE ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO PULL ONTO THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO FORD. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK IN FOR MANY ISSUES(SLOW SPEED SHUDDER, HIGH SPEED SHUDDER, EMERGENCY BRAKE ISSUES, WARPED ROTORS, ELECTRONIC PROBLEMS, TIRE ISSUES, ACCELERATION HESITATIONS, ROUGH IDLE, FAILED BRAKE PUMP, AND MORE WITH LESS THAN 30, 000 MILES) ALL OF WHICH FORD STATES ARE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VEHICLE! MY TWO CHILDREN AND I WERE DRIVING UP HWY 75 NORTH FROM MACON WHEN WE ACCELERATED TO THE NEXT LANE. THE SPEED LIMIT IS 70 SO WE WERE JUST GOING TO PASS IN AT A NORMAL RATE WHEN THE ENGINE JUST QUITS AND THE WHOLE CAR STARTS TO SHUDDER. NOW I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN AT 19,000 MILES AND TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS WAS ONLY ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO. THE ENGINE STARTED MISFIRING AND POWER LOSS. *TR
MY 2012 TRUCK HAS THE 3.5L ECO-BOOST ENGINE AND IT HAS SHUT ITSELF DOWN (GONE INTO LIMP MODE) AT LEAST 12 TIMES. THIS MORNING (4-17-14) IT JUST HAPPENED THREE TIMES WITHIN A 45 MIN WINDOW. THE TEMP OUTSIDE WAS 50 DEGREES F AND NOT RAINING. NORMALLY THIS VEHICLE GOES INTO LIMP MODE DURING A TURN OR AFTER A STOP, BUT IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED AT NORMAL DRIVING SPEEDS (45-50MPH). THIS IS A NEW VEHICLE AND I AM NO LONGER COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. THIS ISSUE HAS ALMOST CREATE THREE SEPARATE ACCIDENTS.
TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY FROM ST LOUIS TO MEMPHIS IN RIGHT HAND LANE. ACCELERATED TO PASS SLOWER TRAFFIC WHEN TRUCK BEGIN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, LURCHING FORWARD AND BACK. ALL THE WHILE LOSING SPEED AND MADE ME FEARFUL TO ATTEMPT TO TRY TO PASS OR MERGE. THIS CONTINUED ALL THE WAY BACK TO MEMPHIS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM TO THE SERVICE TECH. WHEN I PICKED THE TRUCK UP THE SERVICE TICKET SAID "COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. SINCE THEN THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE. I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL OCCUR. IT COULD BE RAIN OR SHINE AND THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A PATTERN. IT IS NOW A WEEKLY/DAILY OCCURRENCE. I OWN A 2012 F150 PLATINUM TRUCK WITH AN ECOBOOST ENGINE. WE PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW. I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE AND WAS TRYING TO PASS A SLOW MOVING CAR. THE VEHICLE WENT INTO OVERDRIVE AND BEGAN TO SHAKE. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND WAITED A MOMENT. WHEN I RESTARTED THE TRUCK I DROVE TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. IT DID THIS AGAIN TWICE ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THAT THE WIRING WAS AT FAULT AND REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE PART. THEN AT 34,470 IT OCCURRED AGAIN. WE WERE ON A HIGHWAY ABOUT TO PASS SOMEONE WHEN THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THE ENGINE SLOWED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED THAT WE USE A HIGHER OCTANE FUEL AND SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED...

THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND ONCE RESTARTED, IT FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. SINCE NEW MY FUEL MILEAGE HAS BEEN DECLINING AND I WAS EXPERIENCING A SHUDDER, WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (CEL). DEALER PERFORMED A TSB AND REPLACED THE CHARGED AIR COOLER AND REPROGRAMMED THE PCM. THIS LEFT ME WITH WORSE MILEAGE AND A NOTICEABLE LOSS OF POWER. THIS PROGRESSED UNTIL 1-19-14 WHERE I LOST ENGINE POWER AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SHUDDER WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO PASS A SLOWER MOVING CAR. WHEN I FLOORED IT, THE TRANS SHIFTED DOWN TO 2ND, AND THE ENGINE SHOOK AND THE TRUCK SLOWED. ONCE I LEFT MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, AND COASTED FOR 30 SECONDS, IT RETURNED TO NORMAL, UNLESS I FLOORED IT AGAIN. NO CEL WAS OBSERVED UNTIL THE NEXT DAY ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER. THEY REPLACED ALL 6 SPARK PLUGS DUE TO FOULING. I THINK THERE IS WATER INGESTION ISSUE AND THAT IS WHAT CAUSED THE PLUGS TO FOUL....
I WAS DRIVING MY F150 2012 ECOBOOST ON AN ONRAMP GETTING ON TO THE FREEWAY. IT WAS RAINING, WET AND ABOUT 50 DEGREES. I ACCELERATED FROM ABOUT 35 TO 65 MPH TO CHANGE LANES AND GET IN LINE WITH TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND THE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING. I NOTICED THE INDICATOR ON THE DASH GO FROM 6 GEAR TO 2ND. GEAR, MY SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO 40 THEN 20 MPH. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, SLOWLY CRUISED. UPON HITTING THE GAS TO CROSS TRAFFIC I HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. I HAD TO LET OFF AND HIT THE GAS A COUPLE OF TIMES IN ORDER TO GET THE TRUCK MOVING. THIS UNFORTUNATELY IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED AND I HAVE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE A MONTH SINCE BUYING IT AS A CERTIFIED VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP THAT I BOUGHT IT FROM SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THE PROBLEM BUT APPARENTLY IT IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS MORE THAN JUST A LITTLE ADJUSTMENT AND NEW PARTS. I HAVE NOTICED THROUGH SOME RESEARCH THAT I AM NOT THE FIRST TO HAVE THIS ISSUE.
