THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ELDER FORD OF TAMPA (9560 N FLORIDA AVE, TAMPA, FL 33612), BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE FOR TWO WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW SPARK PLUG AND COIL WERE NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEAD GASKET FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,726.
MY CAR COOLANT IS ALWAYS LEAKING HAVE TO FILL OUT AND FIX MOST OF THE TIME. THE TRANSMISSION WAS SUDDENLY FAILED EVEN ONLY 80000K MILEAGE AND SERVICE CENTER FOR REPLACEMENT COST IS $6000.THAT'S REALLY RIDICULOUS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LONG LEWIS FORD (2091 ALABAMA 14, PRATVILLE, AL) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000(ENGINE); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,999.
MY CAR WAS OVERHEATING SO I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE THERMOSTAT SO I REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT AND IT'S STILL KEPT OVERHEATING SO I TOOK IT BACK IN THEY RAN A TEST IN THE HEADS WERE BLOWN SO THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE HEADS WELL FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MY YEAR OF VEHICLE AND THE FORD ESCAPES BECAUSE THERE WAS ANOTHER FORD ESCAPE WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE HEADS ON IT I FEEL LIKE IT SHOULD BE RECALLED BECAUSE IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND I THINK FORD IS AWARE OF IT I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE A HEAD ON MY VEHICLE IT'S A 2014 IT SHOULDN'T EVEN NEED THE HEADS REPLACED IT LOOK LIKE IT BELONGS TO

WHEN THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, IT COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN A 2017 SAFETY RECALL RELATED TO OVERHEATING AND COOLANT LEAKS, BUT IT WAS NOT. IN FEBRUARY 2019, IT OVERHEATED WITH LITTLE WARNING ON THE FREEWAY, BLOWING A HOLE IN THE MOTOR (AT 62K MILES). FORD REJECTED REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE, SO REPAIR WAS DONE BY INDEPENDENT MECHANIC (MOTOR REPLACED). THREE MONTHS LATER, DURING FREEWAY DRIVE, MESSAGE APPEARED SEVERAL TIMES STATING POWER WAS BEING CUT TO KEEP ENGINE FROM OVERHEATING (NO INDICATION ENGINE ACTUALLY WAS OVERHEATING). ULTIMATELY, MESSAGE APPEARED WARNING TO PULL OFF THE ROAD IMMEDIATELY. OVERHEATED ENGINE COMPLETELY MELTED A BRACKET. MECHANIC IDENTIFIED A BURNT-OUT SENSOR BUT COULD NOT SAY WHY IT HAPPENED. I SECURED TWO DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSTICS. FIRST CONDUCTED COMPREHENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC AND CONCLUDED A WASTE GATE WAS STUCK OPEN; NO MENTION OF DAMAGED SENSOR. SECOND SAID THE DEGAS BOTTLE WAS CRACKED AND DECLINED TO PERFORM PRESSURE TEST; NO MENTION OF DAMAGED SENSOR OR...
HAD RECALL DONE AT DEALERSHIP TO PREVENT VEHICLE FIRE DUE TO WARPED HEADS ON ENGINE BECAUSE NO SENSOR TO TELL YOU LOW ON COOLANT. CAR HAS OVER 100,000 ON IT NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. NOW AFTER RECALL WORK IS DONE CAR IS SHUTTING DOWN IN TRAFFIC SAYING ENGINE OVERHEATING. BROUGHT TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE IS ALOT OF THESE COMING IN. WAS TOLD DEALERSHIP IS A MONTH BEHIND ON ENGINE WORK. DEALERSHIP HAD FOR 7 DAYS KEPT SAYING THEY WERE GOING TO LOOK AT IT TOMORROW TO DIAGNOSE. THEY WOULD CALL BACK AND SAY ANOTHER DAY. WHEN TO PICK UP AND THEY SAID NOT UNDER WARRANTY WOULD BE ALOT OF MONEY TO FIX. THIS IS MY DAUGHTERS CAR AND IT IS SHUTTING DOWN ON FREEWAYS AND SIDE ROADS. NOT GOOD. DANGEROUS. MY FORD GAVE OFF EXHAUST SMELL FROM TIME TO TIME AND OCCASIONALLY THE ENGINE LIGHT MAY COME ON. BUT DEALERSHIP DID NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS RECENTLY, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I DROVE MY CARD TO THE NEAREST FORDS DEALERSHIP BUT, NEEDED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. ADVISED COULD DRIVE HOME IF NO UNUSUAL SOUNDS. ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF BEFORE APPOINTMENT, SO I CANCELED. 2-3 WEEKS LATER ENGINE LIGHT, CAME BACK ON WITH SMELL OF FUMES. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT, I STARTED THE CAR AND COOLANT LIGHT ALSO CAME ON AT START WITH THE SMELL OF FUMES. FEELING UNEASY DRIVING THE CAR, I HAD 2014 FORD ESCAPE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I FREQUENT AND DESCRIBE ENGINE LIGHT AND COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON DURING START, WITH A LOUD HUMMING NOISE. UPON BEGINNING. TO MOVE FORWARD (PULLING INTO TRAFFIC) THE ENGINE WILL SOMETIMES STALL(CUT OFF) . OTHER TIMES IT WILL BEGIN TO RUN VERY ROUGH SOMETIMES CAUSING ITHE ENGINE TO STALL. ALTHOUGH THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE PART OF RECALL # 14S30 OR #14S20 THE CONDITIONS ARE VERY SIMILAR TO THESE REPORTS.

THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL; THEREFORE, THEY COULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. AT 85,000 MILES, I GET A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT UPON START UP AND IT SPUTTERS. IT GOES ON AND OFF AS I AM DRIVING. I BRING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TELL ME IT'S THE #3 COIL AND CHANGE THAT AND GIVE ME A NEW SET OF SPARK PLUGS. PROBLEM IS, THEY SAID THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY GOOD FOR A TOTAL OF 60,000 MILES. I HAVE NO WARRANTY. THE COST IS $350. FINE, I PAID IT, TOOK IT HOME AND START LOOKING FOR ANOTHER FORD BECAUSE I NEED ONE WITH A WARRANTY. I LOOK THROUGH MY ORIGINAL PAPERWORK AND THE FINE PRINT SAYS THE EXPIRATION IS THE TOTAL OF 60,000 NOT AN ADDITIONAL. MY BAD FOR TRUSTING WHAT THE F&I PERSON TOLD ME INSTEAD OF READING THE CONTRACT. I PURCHASED MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE ECOBOOST BRAND NEW, SOLE OWNER. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH LOSING COOLANT FOR APPROX 2 YEARS AND TAKING IT BACK AND FORTH TO THE FORD DEALER. THE DEALER RAN MULTIPLE TESTS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND FOUND NOTHING, EVEN CALLING IT "ONE OF THOSE FORD MYSTERIES". TODAY, 7/18/19 ON THE WAY TO WORK, MY SUV LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED AND I HIT THE GAS, MY SUV BARELY MOVED. AFTER APPROX 10 SECS, MY SUV JERKED AND ACCELERATED TO AN ALMOST NORMAL SPEED. THAT LASTED ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS, WHEN IT STARTED TO BARELY MOVE AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE SLOWLY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, OUT OF TRAFFIC. THERE I WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK, WHO TOOK THE SUV TO THE FORD DEALER. I HAVE GOTTEN ALL MY...
MY CAR IS THROWING P0303 CODE CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE AND ALSO LOOSING ENGINE COOLANT. CAR HAS GONE INTO LIMP MODE. THERE WAS A RECALL BUT IT DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE. THERE ARE SEVERAL FORUMS WITH MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MECHANICS TELLING THEM THAT ITS A HEAD GASKET ISSUE AND THEY NEED A NEW ENGINE. MY CAR HAS 109,000 MILES. WE REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND SWITCHED THE COILS TO SEE IF THE MISFIRE WOULD SWITCH AND IT HASN'T. WE HAVE DRAINED AND REFILLED THE COOLANT AND IT IS STILL LOOSING BUT NO VISIBLE LEAKS. CAR SOMETIMES STARTS ROUGH.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK THE CAR LOST POWER SUDDENLY. THE CAR THEN SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND LOST POWER. THE CAR BECAME IMMOBILE AFTER JUST A FEW MINUTES OF THE INITIAL PROBLEM THE CAR WAS STUCK ON THE ROAD UNTIL HELP COULD ARRIVE TO LOVE IT OFF THE ROAD WHERE IT CAME TO A STOP. THE CAR WAS ON A COUNTY ROAD, IN MOTION, WITH NO PRE INDICATION OF ISSUE. THE CARS TRANSMISSION IS BELIEVED BAD FROM THIS EVENT AND THE CAR CAN NOT BE DRIVEN OR MOVED UNDER ITS OWN POWER.
COOLANT ISSUES SIMILAR TO THOSE INCLUDED IN THE PART 573 SAFETY RECALL 17V-209, THOUGH MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED A FEW WEEKS LATER AND NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL, AS WELL AS ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT WERE SIMILAR TO OTHER RECALLS THAT DIDN'T INCLUDE MY VIN. IN JUNE 2019, IT STARTED WITH THE VEHICLE NOT TURNING ON OR SHIFTING OUT OF PARK INTERMITTENTLY.. WORK WAS PERFORMED AND THEN A WEEK LATER P0303 CYLINDER MISFIRE.. AGAIN WORK WAS COMPLETED, THE CODE CAME BACK, AND NOW FORD IS RECOMMENDING REPLACING THE ENGINE BUT WILL NOT COVER THE COSTS DUE TO BEING 5 YEARS AND IN EXCESS OF 60K MILES. TOOK FOR 2ND OPINION AND RAN OUT OF COOLANT AND OVERHEATED LESS THAN 5 MILES AWAY FROM FORD DEALERSHIP, EVEN THOUGH THEY JUST REPLACED THE COOLANT OVERFLOW TANK AND FILLED IT.. CONTINUES NEED COOLANT EVERY FEW MILES. SEEMS CRAZY THAT A VEHICLE THAT STAYED ON...
10/16/18 AT 94201 MILES: VEHICLE HAD COOLENT SYSTEM RECALL DONE. 11/19/18 AT 96375 MILES: VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. IT COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN DUE TO LOW COOLENT/ OVER HEATING CODES. HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. 12/6/18 AT 97874 MILES: VEHICLE HAD POWER REDUCED TO APPROX 15 MILES PER HOUR. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AGAIN WITH LOW COOLENT CODES. 06/04/19 AT 107000 MILES: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. OWNER ADDED COOLENT PRIOR TO TAKING BACK TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP DID CAMERA DIAGNOSIS OF COOLENT IN THE PISTONS. UPON TAKING ENGINE APART FOUND A DEFECTIVE SCRATCH LINE THAT CROSSES OVER THE PISTON TO THE COOLENT PACK. FORD CLAIMING IT IS NOT COVERED BY RECALL, THEREFORE NOT COVERED AT ALL..
WHEN IDLING THE VEHICLE SHAKES REALLY BAD. GOING DOWN THE ROAD EVERYTHING IS FINE. AS SOON AS YOU STOP IT STARTS SHAKING AGAIN. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE AC IS ON OR OFF. OCCASIONALLY THERE IS HESITATION WHEN GIVING IT GAS AND TRYING TO MOVE. SOMETIMES IT WON'T GO FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE SMOOTHLY.
TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE NOW LIGHT HAS CAME ON. THE CAR NO LONGER SHIFTS GEARS WHILE DRIVING. PREVIOUSLY, THE CAR WOULD SHIFT VERY HARD, ROCKING THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING, STALLING, THEN GOING BACK TO ACCELERATION.
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE WAS EFFECTED BY A RECALL ISSUE IN NOVEMBER 2018, THE ENGINE OVERHEATS CAUSING THE COOLANT CONTAINER TO CRACK AND LEAK. I PAID $175 TO REPLACE THE COOLANT CONTAINER IN JUNE 2018. HOWEVER IN NOVEMBER 2018 MY CAR COMPLETELY TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY CITY STREET AT STOP LIGHT AND SMOKE STARTED COMING IN THROUGH THE VENTS AND THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE. WE NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE OF A RECALL UNTIL AFTER THIS INCIDENT OCCURED. AFTER 30 DAYS FORD FINALLY ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY AND PAID $9500 TO REPLACE THE DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOTALLED. THE DAY I GOT IT BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP I HAD NOTICED A CHANGE IN THE TRANSMISSION. I MADE THE DEALERSHIP AWARE BUT THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T NOTICE A DIFFERENCE. MY TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY DIED 4 MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING AND I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET AHOLD OF SOMEONE FROM...
VEHICLE WILL STOP RUNNING WHILE IN MOTION WITHOUT WARNING. ALSO GIVES OFF HEAVY EXHAUST SMELL. THERE IS ONLY 100K MILES ON IT. IT IS DUE TO A COOLANT LEAK INTO THE CYLINDER 3 CAUSING A GASKET TO BLOW (SEE ATTACHMENT FOR INVOICE AND DETAILS). WE WERE TOLD BY THE CAR SHOP THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO AT LEAST 5 OTHER FORD ESCAPE OWNERS (WE AREN'T IN A HEAVILY POPULATED AREA, SO THIS IS SIGNIFICANT). CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO HIGH RISK OF BECOMING STRANDED, WHICH IS NOT SAFE DUE TO TRAFFIC, CHILDREN ON BOARD, HOT WEATHER, AND SO ON.
VEHICLE IS OVERHEATING. COOLANT LEVEL STAYS LOW EVEN AFTER REFILLING. NO VISIBLE LEAKS.
ON MAY 13, 2019 TOOK MY CAR TO WORLD FORD TO FIX DOOR RECALL, AS I WAS THERE WAS TOLD I NEEDED BRAKE AND TRANSMISSION FLUID REPLACED. AFTER I GOT MY CAR BACK I WAS SITTING IDLE AND MY TEMP GAUGE WHEN TO HIGH TURN OFF ENGINE SAFELY. I CHECKED THE COOLANT LEVEL IT WAS LOW ADDED WATER. I DIDN'T HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY DAY. ON MAY 31ST, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, MY HUSBAND CHECKED THE DIP STICK WHICH HAD NO OIL ON IT. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO WORLD FORD, WHO STATED I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE BECAUSE I HAD METAL SHAVINGS IN MY ENGINE AND OIL ALL OVER MY CAR FROM AN OIL LEAK. THE CAR BEGAN TO OVERHEAT ONE MORNING WHILE IT WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A CITY STREET ABOUT 45-50 MPH. THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED OVERNIGHT FOR 8-10 HOURS BEFORE BEING DRIVEN. THERE WERE NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF LEAKING COOLANT WHERE THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED. WHEN COOLANT WAS ADDED AFTER THE CAR HAD COOLED OFF IT POURED OUT THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. IT WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC AND THERE WAS A LEAK/HOLE IN THE COOLANT TANK.

MARCH OF 2018 ENGINE STARTING TICKING, TOOK IT IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT IT. GOT IT BACK THE NEXT DAY, THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR TICKING AND IT WAS NORMAL. NOVEMBER OF 2018 TOOK MY CAR BACK IN FOR TIRE, TOLD THEM ABOUT THE TICKING AGAIN AND SAID IT WASN'T THE ALTERNATOR, SOMETHING IN THE ENGINE IS TICKING AND NOW IT IDLES ROUGH. THE CAR'S ENGINE WILL CUT OFF, LIGHTS AND ELECTRICITY WILL STAY ON, BUT THE ENGINE WILL CUT OUT WHILE DRIVING. ACCELERATION IS LOST, AND CANNOT START MOVING AGAIN UNTIL THE CAR IS PUT IN PARK, TURNED OFF, AND TURNED BACK ON. THIS IS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT 30 MPH AND SLOWER, AS WELL AS 55 MPH. THE CAR WILL GIVE AN ENGINE FAULT OR ENGINE FAILURE AND BEGIN JERKING. THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS. THE MOST RECENT TIME, THE CAR BEGAN JERKING AFTER TURNING AND COULD NOT STAY ON FOR LONGER THAN 10 SECONDS BEFORE SHUTTING OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 6-10 TIMES, AND ALMOST CAUSED CAR ACCIDENTS. MULTIPLE PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, AND THE ISSUE STILL HAPPENS.

LESS THAN A MONTH AFTER THAT THE LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN AND I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED. THEY DETERMINED THAT THERE'S AN INTERNAL LEAK AND COOLANT HAD BEEN LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. THEY HAVE RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE ENGINE AND SAY THAT THIS ISSUE IS DIFFERENT THAN THE COOLANT RELATED RECALL THAT MY CAR HAD BEEN ORIGINALLY SERVICED FOR. THIS CAR IS A 2014 WITH LESS THAN 100K MILES ON IT. IT SHOULD NOT NEED A NEW ENGINE.

MANUFACTURER NAME : FORD MOTOR COMPANY NHTSA RECALL NO. / MFR RECALL NO. : 17V-209 / 17S09 RECALL SUBJECT : ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD MAY LEAK OIL WHEN SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, A MESSAGE CAME UP ON MY MESSAGE BOARD "SERVICE ENGINE NOW". THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHUDDER AND THEN SMOKE CAME OUT FROM UNDER MY HOOD. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF IMMEDIATELY, WHILE STILL SITTING AT THE LIGHT, AND GOT OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A FORD DEALERSHIP AND STATED THE HEAD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD WITH AN ESTIMATED OF $3500.00. I DID NOT RECEIVE NOTICE OF THE RECALL REFERENCED ABOVE. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN "LOSING" COOLANT, WHICH I HAD BEEN REFILLING QUITE OFTEN WITH NO VISIBLE LEAKS OR PUDDLES. IF I HAD KNOWN OF THE RECALL THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. DUE TO AN ISSUE BY THE MANUFACTURER, I AM NOW...
