DRIVING DOWN ROAD. CAR SAID ENGINE FAILURE PULLED OVER POPED THE HOOD AND ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND CAR BURNED TOTAL LOSS
CAR STALLS AFTER STARTING AND DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE. WILL RESTART AND PERFORM OK. USUALLY HAPPENS AFTER CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN THEN PARKED FOR A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME (LIKE RUNNING INTO A STORE) THEN STALLS AFTER DRIVEN SHORT DISTANCE.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND THE CONTACT NOTICED FIRE FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT WENT TO LOOK FOR FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND WHEN HE CAME BACK, THE FIRE EXTINGUISHED BY ITSELF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED THE TROPHY FORD DEALER, LOCATED AT 288 HAROLD G CLARKE PKWY, FORSYTH, GA 31029 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF COOLANT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND SENT INVESTIGATORS TO EVALUATE THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. A LACK OF COOLANT CIRCULATION CAUSED THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT, RESULTING IN A CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION IN A CITY. VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP AND I JUST BOUGHT IT 1 YEAR AGO. I STILL OWE AND DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPAIR. I HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN AND OUR LIFE IS IN TURMOIL BECAUSE OF THIS.
THE AUTO CONTINUES TO STALL IN LOW IDLE
ENGINE COOLANT KEEPS EVAPORATING/LEAKING OUT
VEHICLE ENGINE STARTED TO REACH HIGH TEMPERATURE LEVELS WHILE DRIVING AND A NOTIFICATION TO STOP THE VEHICLE DUE TO HIGH TEMPERATURES. CAN ONLY DRIVE FOR 10-15 MINS BEFORE THIS HAPPENS. A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND A RECALL CAME BACK FOR 2014 FORD ESCAPE - COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR SYSTEM INSTALLATION.IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, A LACK OF COOLANT CIRCULATION COULD CAUSE AN ENGINE TO OVERHEAT, RESULTING IN A CRACK IN THE CYLINDER HEAD. A CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD CAN RESULT IN A PRESSURIZED OIL LEAK. OIL THAT COMES INTO CONTACT WITH A HOT ENGINE SURFACE INCREASES THE RISK OF A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
MY CAR HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON WHEN I TURNED IT ON ONE DAY. IT WAS ON THE WEEKEND SO I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL MONDAY TO GET DIAGNOSTICS AT MY LOCAL DEALER. THE CAR STARTED TO RUN REALLY ROUGH AND WAS SLIPPING. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN AND LEAKING ANTIFREEZE EVERYWHERE. I AM CURRENTLY AWAITING TO SEE IF THE HEAD IS CRACKED TO WHICH I'M TOLD IS COMMON WITH THIS ISSUE AND THIS CAR. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS IN THE SAME YEAR MY CAR WAS MADE, HOWEVER, MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED INTO THIS RECALL IN IS NOW MY RESPONSIBILITY FINANCIALLY TO FIX THIS.
THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AND HAD ONLY BEEN STARTED AND MOVING FOR LESS THAN 5 MINUTES. NOTICED THAT WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD NOT SHUT OFF OR CHANGE SPEEDS, THEN NOTICED A SLIGHT ODOR IN CAR THAT INCREASINGLY STRENGTHENED. PHONED MY HUSBAND WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, ODOR OF SOMETHING BURNING BECAME MUCH STRONGER, THEN NOTICED SMOKE COMING BETWEEN THE THE DRIVERS SIDE HOOD SEAM AND BETWEEN THE HOOD AND THE WINDSHIELD, THIS WAS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY NOTICABLE FLAME. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, TURNED ON HAZARD LIGHTS AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. LOCAL POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED, BEGAN WITH SMALL FIRE EXTINGUISHERS, WITHOUT SUCCESS AND FIRE DEPARTMENT OPENED HOOD AND APPLIED WATER TO EXTINGUISH. THIS WAS ON A CITY STREET IN O'FALLON, MO. UNCERTAIN OF CAUSE, BUT AM NOW AWARE THAT FORD ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS MODEL (RECALL 17S09) AND BELIEVE THIS COULD BE A POSSIBILITY.
COOLANT DISAPPEARING
DRIVING OUR ESCAPE, WITH 58,800 MILES, ON A ROAD TRIP HAD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. WE DROVE IT TO A CLOSE REPAIR SHOP AND FOUND OUT COOLANT LEAKED INTO HEAD GASKET #3 CAUSING OVER HEATING DAMAGE AND REPLACEMENT OF CYLINDER HEAD WOULD BE REQUIRED. FORD DEALER WOULD NOT HELP REPAIR OR REPLACE OR EVEN DIAGNOSE. RECALL FIX 17S09 (NHTSA 17V-209) DID NOT FIX THE POTENTIAL DANGER OR DAMAGE. THE COOLANT LEAK STILL HAPPENED CAUSING ENGINE FAILURE AND A WORTHLESS CAR AT 58,800 MILES.
MY BATTERY DIED. IT WAS JUMPED AND WORKING, BUT THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE BECAUSE THE 'HOT ENGINE' MESSAGE WAS ON. IT WAS TOWED TO FIRESTONE. THEY PUT A NEW BATTERY IN, BUT THE 'HOT ENGINE ' LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I FOUND A RECALL ABOUT THE COOLANT SYSTEM ON THE INTERNET. 17S09. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO HUNTERSVILLE FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY HAVE HAD IT FOR 24 HOURS AND HAVE NOT CALLED OR RETURNED MY CALLS.

THE ENGINE SUDDENLY DOWN DIES WHILE DRIVING SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS.

THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO USE ROLLING STOPS TO AVOID THE VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN THE DEALER'S PARKING LOT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE OXYGEN SENSORS AFTER PERFORMING A SMALL TEST DRIVE. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS. THE TOTAL COST FOR THE REPAIRS WAS OVER $4,200. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AWAITING REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.

THE CONTACT CALLED HERB CHAMBERS FORD OF BRAINTREE (LOCATED AT 75 GRANITE STREET RTE 37, BRAINTREE, MA 021847, 781-848-1350) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND THEY WERE NOT SURE IF IT WAS INCLUDED IN A WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
CURRENT ISSUE IS HEAD GASKET OVERHEATED AND BLEW. COOLANT IS INTERNALLY LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE. CAR BLOWS OUT A TON OF EXHAUST WHILE DRIVING AND HAS THE SMELL OF COOLANT IN IT. I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY ANYMORE BECAUSE THE CAR OVERHEATS AND LIMITS MY SPEED TO 45 MPH. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO PULL OVER JUST TO LET IT COOL DOWN. EVERY TIME THE CAR STARTS UP IT VIBRATES SO MUCH THAT ITS QUITE ANNOYING. SOMETIMES THE CAR SHUTS OFF RIGHT AFTER I START IT IN THE MORNING, RIGHT AFTER A CRAZY BURST OF VIBRATION. A LITTLE OVER A MONTH AGO I STARTED MY CAR AND IT VIBRATED SO MUCH AND THEN SO MUCH OIL LEAKED FROM MY CAR, EXHAUST BLEW OUT DARK BLACK SMOG AND SMOKE WAS COMING FROM MY HOOD. CAR IS REALLY LOUD ON IDLE, NEVER BEEN IN A CAR SO LOUD WITH SO MUCH...

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SONJU ALL AMERICAN SUPERSTORE (LOCATED AT 893 SCENIC DR, TWO HARBORS, MN 55616, (218) 834-2101) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,589.
2 MONTHS AGO, MY CAR DIED IN AS I WAS EXITING THE INTERSTATE. TRANSMISSION ISSUES - REPAIRED AFTER 2 MONTHS. DROVE IT OUT OF TOWN AND SECOND DAY BEING OUT OF TOWN ENGINE LIGHT ON. BROUGHT IT BACK TO MECHANIC AND TRANSMISSION MECHANIC SAID THERE WAS NO TRANS CODE PRESENT, BUT FOLLOWING CODES PRESENT P1116 AND P0234. UNABLE TO DRIVE CAR AGAIN UNTIL LIGHT ENGINE LIGHT IS OFF AND THIS REPAIR IS OUT OF POCKET AGAIN.
ENGINE COOLANT LEVEL CONTINUES TO DROP IN RESERVOIR. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND MAINTAINED PER FORD. COOLANT HAS BEEN ADDED TWICE AT DEALERSHIP ALTHOUGH COOLANT SYSTEM IS REPUTEDLY SEALED. THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER FORD'S EARLIER RECALL. CAR IS USED IN NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS (HIGHWAY, AROUND TOWN).
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE WITH THE 1.6L ECOBOOST HAS A SAFETY RECALL FOR CRACKING OF THE CYLINDER HEAD, THERE FIX FOR THIS ONLY TO PLACE A COOLANT SENSOR IN THE COOLANT RESERVOIR. SO I HAD THE RECALL INSTALLED, NOT LONG AFTER I STARED HAVING ISSUES WITH LOSSING COOLANT. NEXT IF STARED MISSING WELL I TOOK IT IN AND THE DEALER SAID "YOU HAVE A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK" WHEN ASK TO PROVE THE BLOCK WAS CRACKED THEY COULD NOT, AND THE DEALER ALSO TOLD ME THAT, "THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE EVEN IF ITS ONLY A HEAD" SO FORD IS MAKING TO WHERE THE COSTUMER IS RESPONSABLE FOR REPLACING THE ENGINE. THEN AFTER I GOT MY CAR BACK 2 MONTHS LATER, MY STREERING HAD A CATCH OCCASIONALLY THEN STARTED LOCKING UP COMPLETELY AND HAPPEND TO BE STATIONARY OR VERY LOW SPEEDS WHEN IT DID LOCK UP. SO I TAKE IT...
MY VEHICLE STARTED TO OVERHEAT AND SMOKE UP. A MECHANIC LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND THOUGHT IT WAS THE VACUUM PUMP OR SOMETHING CLOSE TO THAT NAME. I CAN FILL UP MY COOLANT TO THE MAX LINE AND DRIVE AND BE EMPTY WITHIN MINUTES. THEN I NOTICED A RECALL FOR FORD ESCAPES CONCERNING A COOLANT PROBLEM AND I AM WORRIED. THIS VEHICLE IS BRAND NEW TO ME (ONLY 2 YEARS) AND STILL UNDER 6 YEARS OLD. I AM AFRAID THAT MY VEHICLE WILL COMBUST WITH MY KIDS IN IT. WE CANT FIND WHERE THE COOLANT IS COMING FROM AND ITS A REAL SCARE.

AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS THE CAR STARTS AND DRIVES NORMALLY. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN IN MOTION AT SLOW SPEEDS ON THE CITY STREET.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND TRAVELING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR TO MOVE WITH TRAFFIC. VEHICLE LOST POWER. A FEW DAYS LATER ON ANOTHER BUSY HIGHWAY DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES AN HOUR, THE COMPUTER READ TRANSMISSION FAILED. MY MILEAGE WAS 59,647 WHICH WAS UNDER THE 60,000 WARRANTY BUT OUT OF DATE. I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH 49,443 MILES ON 8/1/18. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT THE CAR TO SUNNY SIDE MOTORS A AUTHORIZED FORD DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION FAILED MESSAGE DIAGNOSIS DONE AT THE COST OF $159.95 TO FIND OUT THE REPAIR WOULD COST ME $2712.19 WHICH WOULD NOT BE COVER UNDER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY. THE TEST RETRIEVE CODE P1744 FOR TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH PERFORMED, PRESSURE DROPPING OUT OF SPEC WHEN WARM CHECKED FLUID CONDITION AND FOUND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH DAMAGED CAUSING INTERNAL CONTAMINATION AND NEEDS INTERNAL REPAIRS. TOOK CAR TO QUEENS NY FORD SERVICE CENTER 4 HOURS LATER $400 LATER, CHANGED CABIN FILTER AND SPRAYED FRAGRANCE ON IT. TOLD MUST USE CABIN RECYCLE AIR FUNCTION. FORD OWNERS MANUAL DOESNT SAY MUST USE AND IN NO OTHER CAR HAVE HAD TO MUST USE THIS FUNCTION. I HAVE A CASE# CAS24667125 AND APPT FOR 11/6/19. FORD BUILT THIS CAR TECH'S SHOULD KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS!

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TECHNICIAN REPAIRED THE LEAK, BUT THE COMPUTER SENSOR WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED ANTELOPE VALLEY FORD (1155 AUTO MALL DR, LANCASTER, CA 93534, (888) 415-0959) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 126,000.
EVERY TIME I GET GAS THE CAR HAVE TROUBLE STARTING BACK UP. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN WHILE DRIVING, AND RANDOMLY STOPS. TODAY 10/28/2019 I WAS ON THE EWAY GOING WEST OF 465 INDIANAPOLIS AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN NSTOPPED BEFORE I CAN EVEN PULL OVER. I SAT THERE FOR 5 MINS CAR OFF AND IT TURNED BACK ON. I HAVE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF N START BACK UP. ENGINE LIGHT BATTERY AND TRANS LIGHT HAVE ALL CAME ON AMD IT SHUTS OFF AND COME BACK ON LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED YET AUTO SHOPS CAN NOT FIND A DIAGNOSTIC FOR THE PROBLEM. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE AND I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR A MONTH

CURRENTLY THIS HAS HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS AND PARKING LOTS. ONCE WHILE TURNING. OTHERS GOING STRAIGHT. LUCKILY WE HAVE NOT HAD THIS HAPPEN ON THE INTERSTATE YET.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. NOTICED FLUID ON A HOSE UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHILE PERFORMING AN OIL CHANGE. ALSO OBSERVED THE FLUID POOLING AND DISCOLORING UNDERSIDE OF ENGINE. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO LOUISBURG FORD. SERVICE TEAM INFORMED ME THAT THE TURBO HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. COOLANT ALSO APPEARS LOW WITHOUT EXPLANATION. JUST BOUGHT VEHICLE USED FROM LOUISBURG WITH 74,000 MILES IN FEBRUARY 2019. NOW 86,000 MILES.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR EXHIBITS AN ENGINE HIGH HEAR AND ENTERS SAFE MODE AND RAPIDLY DECELERATING. THIS HAPPENED ONCE AND WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER AS A BAD PART FROM A PREVIOUS RECALL 17S09. IT OCCURRED AGAIN JUST RECENTLY AND WAS SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED (COOLANT HOSE PROBLEMS) AND DID IT AGAIN IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. IN BOTH CASES THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 50 MPH ON A BUSY ROAD AND WE WERE LUCKY TO EXIT THE ROAD TO A SAFE AREA. THE ORIGINAL RECALL WAS RELATED TO ENGINE FIRES BUT THIS IS ANOTHER SAFETY HAZARD. IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE THAT THE RECALL ACTION BY FORD IS INADEQUATE TO CORRECT THE CONDITION.

WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THERE WAS AN AUDIBLE NOTIFICATION STATING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT ALSO DETECTED OIL LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. MAC HAIK FORD OF GEORGETOWN (7201 N INTERSTATE HWY 35, GEORGETOWN, TX 78626, (512) 930-3673) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE NEXT AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT WAS IN A MONTH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,375.

LESS THAN ONE WEEK AFTER PAYING TO HAVE THE SENSOR REPLACED, MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR A CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE. SO NOW I AM BEING TOLD THIS IS A CRACKED HEAD GASKET. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR ONE MONTH AND IT HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES. THIS IS THE EXACT PROBLEM LISTED IN THE FORD RECALL 17S09 AND THIS VEHICLE WAS MADE AT THE PLANT ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL DURING THE TIMEFRAME. THE CAR KEEP GIVING ME A MESSAGE THAT IS OVERHEATING, THEN THE AC START BLOWING HOT AIR BUT THE CAR IS NOT HOT. WITHIN 3 MINUTES THE MESSAGING AWAY THE AC START WORKING LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS NOT TO CHANGE AT ALL WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING TO THE CAR.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS...
THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR MORE THAN 3 HOURS. I PUSHED THE REMOTE START AND THE CAR STARTED, BUT IT SHUT OFF ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. THE SHUT DOWN WAS DUE TO OVERHEATING. THE ENGINE WAS COOL AND THE COOLANT WAS TEPID AT BEST. THIS IS NOT AN OVERHEATING ISSUE. THE CAR WILL NOT RUN ON MORE THAN 2 CYLINDERS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE RECALL FOR THE COOLANT SENSOR. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE I WAS CHARGED TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE NO CHARGE SINCE IT WAS RECALLED FOR THE OVERHEATING ISSUE. THIS OVERHEATING HAS CAUSED MY TRANSMISSION AND TORQUE CONVERTER TO FAIL AS WELL. THE COST OF THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE REIMBURSED BY FORD SINCE THEY HAVE KNOW ABOUT THE OVERHEATING ISSUE FOR A LONG TIME NOW.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,620.

HOWEVER, ON 8/5/2019 MILEAGE 62,500 THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LONG STORY SHORT, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE VEHICLE HAD A CRACKED CYLINDER, THE EXACT SAME CONDITION THAT 17S09 WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX. WHILE I DID NOT SUFFER A SAFETY INCIDENT IN THIS CASE, MY CONCERN IS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED CORRECTLY UNDER THE ORIGINAL RECALL, AND THUS THERE MAY STILL BE A SAFETY ISSUE THAT MAY AFFECT OTHERS.

THEY CHECKED CAR, AND COMMUNICATED FORD MOTOR AND FORD LEGAL SERVICE WHETHER TO FULL FILL RECALL PROCEDURES FOR BRANDED TITLE CAR. AFTER 20 DAYS, THEY CALLED ME. THEIR DECISION IS NOT TO FULFILL RECALL. THEY SAID FORD WARRANTIES NOT COVER BRANDED TITLE CARS. CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. AND MY CAR PROBLEM SEEMS PRIMARY RELATED TO RECALL ISSUE.
