Sluggish acceleration, car would not go faster than 37 MPH at full throttle, appeared to be running on hybrid motor only, not on engine power. 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid. 2.5 L engine. Only got 1 mile, returned home. No smoke, no fire, just not accelerating. Car was completely fine the day before. Got towed to Ford dealer next morning.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH on the highway, the vehicle decelerated unintendedly. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that after driving a short distance and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle responded as needed. The vehicle was driven to the intended destination. The contact stated that the incident was significantly frightening. An unknown dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact referenced recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V380000(Engine); however, the VIN was not associated with the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,400.
I have received 2 letters from manufacturer, than I had appointment dealer service, I went there and worker sad to me we don't have it, than I tried another services , they same answer, than I contacted ford, ford told to me car is good condition don't need replacement
Upon purchasing and receiving the car from a dealership, I attempted to drive it around my neighborhood and after about 1 minute received a warning saying "safely stop now!" and the steering wheel locked and the power shut off in the middle of the street. The car would not turn back on and had to be towed to the dealership. The dealership (not Ford) already replaced the battery and that did not fix the issue. They are having to take it to Ford service to get it looked at. This poses a very significant safety risk because it could have happened on the highway, as some Ford Escape users have reported on forums. Before purchasing the car, all available recalls were addressed and "resolved", but clearly not all issues have been fixed.
We were traveling to Springfield MO and just before Strafford our 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid SE flashed a wrench warning on our screen and immediately went into limp mode in rush hour traffic on I-44. We were in the passing lane going up a hill at the time passing a commercial truck and our speed dropped significantly. Luckily the vehicles behind us to were able slow down in time.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid. The contact stated that the vehicle had been repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V380000 (Engine). The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer and stated that the dealer only updated the powertrain control module, and had not inspected the engine. The contact stated that there was still a risk of an engine compartment fire. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated while refueling the vehicle at the gas station, fuel was splashing out of the fuel filler neck. The contact stated that upon attempting to refuel the vehicle again, the gas pump nozzle unintendedly stopped several times and fuel splashed onto the contact; however, the fuel tank was not full. Additionally, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The message "Service Engine Soon" and other unknown messages were displayed on the Ford Mobile App. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the canister purge valve was blocked and was obstructing the fuel circulation. The dealer determined that the fuel lines, the fuel system valves, and the canister purge valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was...

My escape continues to shut down after parking and will not restart. Push button light will sometimes turn green but will not come on , dial to P flashes but will not move . Sometime I can quickly jump it off and it restarts but most recently and to get someone to disconnect both batteries and reconnect and it will start … it acts like it has to restart the electrical system . I have seen many examples of others having the same issues
The car battery keeps being drained by modules staying active, this has affected my car so far twice in a year. This poses a safety issue as the car can get stuck and is inoperative. Ford has 2 service bulletins to repair the issue to reprogram the ABS module and PCM, they are SSM 49574 and SSM 49990. However Ford will not cover these repairs under extended warranty and although the issue initially occurred while under the 3yr/30k warranty but they didn’t have the service bulletins out at that time. This needs to be listed as recall issue as many people on Ford forum have complained about this issue for 2020 Ford Escape hybrids
Was driving the car when it suddenly went dead with the following message on the screen: “Vehicle network communication error”. By chance I happened to be able to coast off the road otherwise i would have been stranded on a very busy road. The vehicle was towed to a Ford dealer where the problem was reproduced, the car has been at the dealer for 1 week now with no idea what the problem is. There was no warning prior to the error appearing and the vehicle completely stopping. Reviewing Ford forums there are at least two other instances of this happening. Do not have any repair information yet as it is not fixed and the solution is unknown at this time.
Recall was issues 5/2023 for Engine Stall/Fire risk. There has been no remedy done and it's coming up on one year since this has been issued. This was expanded upon the July 2022 recall that drilled holes and removed grill shutters , but it was shown to not have alleviated this issue. The issue is a rod bearing breaching the engine block causing the potential for devastating and potential personal injury along with property damage. In reaching out to the dealer , no remedy has been issued yet....it's almost 1 year !!!
The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V380000 (Engine) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
UNKNOWN. I have received recall notice 23V380 in February 2024 after buying the car from a certified Ford dealer on October 24, 2023. The defect has not been remedied, and I need to sell the car now due to a job change outside of the country. This unaddressed recall and threat that the "engine could fail prematurely" has made it nearly impossible to sell the car at anywhere near the price paid. I am therefore demanding that Ford repurchase the vehicle from me and issue a full refund for all costs of purchasing the vehicle (including taxes and fees).

It has been nearly 10 months since Ford issued this recall (23S27) for the 2020 Ford Escape. There is a risk of fire if this engine fault is not resolved. Ten months is an unacceptably LONG time for the company not to have issued a satisfactory resolution to this dangerous situation.
My vehicle is continuously triggers a check engine light, which goes on and off. It states on the FORD APP that the engine is detecting that the exhaust gas recirculation system flow is higher than expected for the operating conditions. I have repeatedly requested that this be evaluated but every time I go in for service they tell me that they will not look at it unless the check engine light is on (Which it goes on and off all the time with the same record) and they refuse to go off the check engine history on my APP. There is also a sound coming from my driver side tailpipe that is low sound at idle but increasing whines/chirps during acceleration. I can't say for sure, but I believe these are tied together and the dealership tells me that i have to leave my car with them for at least...
Driving the 2020 Ford Escape it completely shut down during a rain storm requiring us to pull off the main road coasting to a stop. Very concerned with the fact that The emergency flashers did not function and the rest of the dash and LCD panel went black. After 20 minutes I was able to get the vehicle started but the check engine light was illuminated and I was able to drive the 1/2 mile home. The car is in our driveway and I have a service appointment on 3/6. With this potential problem in place I do not want to drive it if it will shut down in the middle of the interstate highway.

We received an IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL in June of last year (2023). The engine could fail, spewing oil with imminent fire danger. The "fix" was estimated to be available by October 2023. We have kept in contact with our Ford service manager, where we purchased the car & they still do not have any word about how to fix this or what parts to use. The last Ford recall for this car was a haphazard fix of drilling holes to let oil drain safely!? We are very concerned about driving our car with this possible break down & fire & this is our only vehicle. Please help us come to a satisfactory resolution for this safety problem. Safety Recall Notice 23S27/NHTSA Recall 23V380. Thank You!

This recall is very serious, I do not feel safe driving my car as it could explode and kill me, and or others. No eta on a serious recall, even though I am being forced to pay for repairs, and possibly cause more damage to my engine for this serious recall.

For NHTSA recall, 23V80, Ford has NOT provide a resolution to this recall from June 2023. I am sending in this complaint as Ford indicated in June 2023 letter to contact the Hotline if a repair is not provided in a reasonable timeline. As of 1/8/2024 there is no repair available. In addition, a loaner until the repair is completed is not available.
I purchased the vehicle brand new in February 2020 and it has had persistent battery/electrical issues. In May 2022 the battery was malfunctioning and I was driving it to the dealership to be examined and it completely died while I was driving. The electrical system failed while I was driving. I have had the battery replaced at least 3 times in less than 4 years and, despite the battery being replaced less than a year ago, it needs to be replaced again. Ford is not willing to cover the replacement battery despite it being less than 1 year ago. Ford is not standing by their vehicle and refusing to accommodate the repeated battery issues, including catastrophic failure while driving.

Car frequently stalls. Will not restart. Dealer has been saying a fix will come, but it never comes. Your documentation says a fix in October. It's now January and no fix in site.
Nothing has yet happened, however, Ford sent a recall notice regarding premature engine failure in May 2023. The recall (NHTSA recall 23V380) stated that they anticipated a solution by October 2023, but they have no solution still. I don't know what the nature of the defect is, but I did not anticipate waiting more than 8 months for a solution on something that could cause the engine to set on fire. This vehicle is a daily driver for us, and we'd like to take it on a road trip this summer, but the combination of heat and unknown engine risk makes me not want to risk it.

Recall 23S27 has no remedy available since May 2023, and Ford has not made any reasonable attempt to repair the engine that they say may catch on fire due to failure. Originally promised a fix announcement by October 2023, that has since come and went, then they said November and it's now December 24, 2023 and there's no fix for this issue. The previous related recall to increase ventilation did not work, nor does it address the defective engine block or other lubricated components that caused block breaches and subsequent fires. Why is Ford allowed to not fix this issue in a timely manner? I rely on this vehicle for family transportation and knowing that they have yet to come out with a repair means they are willfully risking the lives of their customers over the cost of repairing or replacing the engines with components that aren't defective.

2020 Ford Escape hybrid titanium: Complete electrical shut down of every electrical component, all interior/exterior systems inoperable, including inability to start engine. Manual key required to open door. Initial attempts to jump start do not work - takes numerous attempts to jump start until car by chance ‘wakes up’. Battery charging will not help and low charge on starter batter is not the issue. Parking brake release not possible for towing since no electrical to release parking brake. Car is not equipped to manually disengage parking brake - contrary to what is written in manual. Therefore is a problem for towing company if they do not have dolly's to place on flat bed. Software update is required at dealership to solve issue. In the meantime, you can get seriously stranded with a dead car. Also far too many recalls placing ever going time consuming burden on owners to deals with...

Manufacturer has not made a remedy available for recall NHTSA 23V380 (objectively dangerous potential engine fire associated) within a reasonable timeframe nor by the promised October 2023 deadline. Recall has been open since May 2023.

We are having difficulty getting our Vehicule repaired in a reasonable time and without charge from Ford. We are trying to fix these recalls - Campaign/NHTSA# 22S47/22V484, Campaign/NHTSA#23S27/23V380 and Campaign#23E09. We went to dealership and they will take 2-3 days. They want to charge us for car rental during that time. We only have one car and 2 small children. We can't be without a car and we shouldn't pay for a rental car.
While driving, lost power and dash said stop safely now, battery symbol came on Was able to pull over but could be extremely dangerous on freeway

I received a safety recall notice back in May and as of today July 27th there is still no proposed solution. The vehicle is at risk of catching fire, endangering myself, my family, and others, so I am afraid to drive it.
