ON AUGUST 5 AND 6TH THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE I WAS OPERATING IT WITH MY CHILDREN INSIDE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE. I CALLED A DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS SOON TO BE ONE IF NOT YET. I AM VERY MUCH AFRAID FOR MY FAMILY BEING THAT THIS IS THE ONLY VEHICLE I OWN AND IS A SINGLE PARENT AND NEED MY VEHICLE. I ALSO CALLED THE CHRYSLER CORPORATE OFFICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO FOR ME UNLESS THEY HAD MORE COMPLAINTS IN THERE DATABASE. I MENTION WHAT THE DEALERSHIP SAID AND WHAT I RESEARCHED ONLINE. I THINK THAT THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS COMPLAINT AND SOMEONE NEED TO MOVE QUICKLY. *TR
MY 05 RAM 1500 HAS NOW STALLED OUT TWICE IN THE 2 MONTHS I HAVE HAD IT. TRUCK STALLS DAILY. ONLY STALLS WHEN COMING TO A STOP. ONCE COMPLETELY STOPPED THE TACHOMETER JOLTS UP AND DOWN, MAKING THE TRUCK LURCH FORWARD, AND WILL SOMETIMES STALL COMPLETELY. FOR SOME REASON MY TRUCK JUST STALLS OUT WHEN MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN OR LEFT HAND TURN OR IF YOU SLOW BELOW 5 MPH AND TRY TO TURN THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS DOWN AND DODGE ACTS LIKE ITS JUST ME. I FEEL THIS IS A ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN LETS TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. I PAID 35,000 DOLLARS FOR THIS TRUCK AND IT SHOULDN'T BE A LEMON EVEN IF THE TRANNY HAS BEEN REBUILT 3 TIMES ALREADY. WHEN I SLOW DOWN, AND SPECIFICALLY TURN THE WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION, MY DODGE WILL RANDOMLY STALL. THE RADIO WILL STAY ON AND THE ONLY WAY I KNOW THE TRUCK HAS STALLED IS BECAUSE I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE. ONCE I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL IT STARTS RIGHT UP AND TAKES OFF. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENTS. TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IT COULD BE AS THEY WERE "UNABLE TO DUPLICATE" THE PROBLEM. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE RAM 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LIFTERS OR VALVES WITHIN THE ENGINE FAILED. AS A RESULT, A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WOULD COME FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT FAILURES OF THE ENGINE VALVES, LIFTERS AND CONTROL MODULE WERE A COMMON OCCURRENCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 101,000.

SON WAS DRIVING DADS 2005 1500 DODGE RAM SLT HEMI ENGINE PICK UP TRUCK AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE TODAY FROM THE ENGINE. FIRE DEPART WAS CALLED IN YUCAIPA CA AND NOW OUR TRUCK IS AT THE REDLANDS AUTO CENTER IN REDLANDS CA. THE FRONT TIRE WAS BURNED, HOOD, AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL WIRING WAS MELTED. THE BATTERY TOTALLY MELTED. TRUCK ONLY HAD 55,000 MILES ON IT. *TR

THIS INCIDENT HAS NOW HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE AND I AM QUITE CONCERNED. AS I DRIVE MY 2005 DODGE RAM 1500 V8 HEMI, IT STALLS ON ME WITHOUT WARNING. PRIOR TO THIS THE SVC ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON. I TOOK IT IN TO AUTOZONE W/A REGISTERED EGR SENSOR, VALVE, ETC. I REPLACED THE VALVE, CLEANED OUT THE THROTTLE. THE LIGHT WENT AWAY AFTER THIS FIX. BUT AS I STATED, AS I DRIVE THE VEHICLE IT CONTINUES TO SHUT OFF W/NO NOTICE AT ALL. I THOUGHT TO PROMPT AN INVESTIGATION AS ALL OF MY ONLINE FINDINGS WOULD INDICATE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. *TR

WITHIN THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF OWNING THE TRUCK I NOTICE THAT WHENEVER I WOULD COLD START THE TRUCK AND PUT IT INTO GEAR THE RPMS WOULD DROP AND THE TRUCK WOULD STALL. IT HAS HAPPENED AT SPEEDS OF 20 MPH AND LOWER, WHILE TAKING TURNS, APPROACHING STOP SIGNS AND AT THE CREST OF HILLS WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 DODGE RAM 1500 QUADCAB LWB. WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AT 55 MPH THE CONTACT ACCELERATED AND THE GAUGES ON THE DASHBOARD BEGAN FLUCTUATING OUT OF CONTROL. THE VEHICLE THEN SHUT OFF AND THE GAUGES REMAINED STAGNANT. THE ENGINE LOCKED UP AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY SLUDGE BUILD-UP. THE WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT RECEIVE ROUTINE OIL CHANGES. THE CONTACT INSISTED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS HAD REGULAR OIL CHANGES. CURRENTLY, HE MUST PAY $10,000 FOR A NEW ENGINE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 44,200.*AK
ENGINE STALLING, ENGINE STALLS IN ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS. PCM HAS BEEN UPDATED WITH NEW CODE AND STILL OCCURS. SEVERAL COMPONENTS REPLACED AND STILL ENGINE STALLS. DODGE SERVICE DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDED HIGHER OCTANE FUEL AND THE ENGINE STILL STALLS. WE HAVE MADE A TOTAL OF TEN REPAIR ATTEMPTS AND THE ENGINE STILL STALLS ON AVERAGE ONE TO TWO TIMES PER WEEK. THIS COMPLAINT IS A CONTINUANCE OF A PREVIOUS COMPLAINT NUMBER 10175625 FILED 12/08/2006. I HAVE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH MY 2005 DODGE RAM 1500 4X4 WITH THE 5.7L HEMI. THE VEHICLE WILL AT TIMES STALL WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COLD AND IT IS COLD OUT SIDE (NEAR FREEZING). MY VEHICLE IS A SWB QUAD CAB 4X4 1500 6 FT BED. I WAS TRAVELING AT 30 -35- MPH GOING THROUGH A SLIGHT RIGHT CURVE WHEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AND I LOST ALL POWER IN THE VEHICLE (IN TRAFFIC) I PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED THE TRUCK AT ABOUT 20 - 25 MPH AND CONTINUED ON.
