My car is a Dodge Journey with a 4 cylinder engine, factory steel wheels and bolt-on wheel covers. The factory wheel nuts are collapsing in diameter as a result of contact with impact wrenches. Recently I had a flat tire and in efforts to remove the wheel, because the wheel nuts had collapsed in diameter, special tools were needed to remove them. Had the flat tire occurred on the highway, it would not have been possible to remove the wheel and install the spare tire, posing a severe safety problem. I have replaced the factory wheel nuts on the wheel where the flat tire occurred and expect to do so on the other wheels
Engine problems
I HAVE HAD MY SPEED CENSOR AND WHEEL BEARING REPAIRED TWICE VERY CLOSELY TOGETHER AND IT NOW NEEDS DONE AGAIN. MY ABS, TRACTION, AND AWD LIGHTS ARE ALL ON. WHEN THEY ARE ALL ON, I HAVE NO TRACTION AT ALL AND SLIDE ALL OVER THE PLACE. IT IS VERY UNSAFE AND I FEEL LIKE MY CAR IS A DEATH TRAP. I HAVE PUT OVER $10,000 INTO MY CAR IN LESS THAN 3 YEARS FOR UNNECESSARY MAINTENANCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. AUTONATION CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM SPRING (21027 I-45, SPRING, TX 77388, (281) 715-6927) DIAGNOSED THAT THE WHEEL WIRING NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS SOME PROBLEM TOO.
MASTERCRAFT GLACIER GRIP II TIRES 4 225 65 R16 INSTALLED 10/27/2016. LESS THAN 25,000 MILES ON TIRES AND 2 TIRES ON HAD TREAD SEPARATION. MINOR CRACK FRACTURES THAT LEAKED AIR OUT. I HAD TO KEEP PUTTING AIR IN TIRE. ONCE PUMPED UP TO TIRE SPECS HOLD AIR. SO DEALER DIDN'T FIND NOTHING WRONG TILL IT KEPT HAPPENING AND I MADE THEN DISMOUNT AND CHECK INSIDE AND OUT AND ALL AROUND. FOUND FROM INSIDE MICRO CRACKS IN TIRE TREAD. PER DEALER MANUFACTURE DEFECT.
AFTER 60MPH HAVE VIBRATION WEN TOUCH THA BRAKE PEDAL
PURCHASED NEW IN 2012. DODGE JOURNEY SXT THE TIRES DEVELOPED CORD SEPARATION AT 22,000 KM. MANUFACTURER KUMHO. NEITHER CHRYSLER NOR KUMHO WOULD OFFER ANY COMPENSATION. EVEN HAD 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT DONE THAT CHECKED OUT OK TO MAKE SURE IT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. REPLACED THEM WITH AMERICAN MADE TIRES AND SO FAR NO ISSUES. MY ADVISE TO NEW CAR PURCHASERS IS HAVE TIRES IF OFF SHORE REPLACED WITH DOMESTICS AS PART OF OFFER TO PURCHASE. SECONDLY VEHICLE TO DATE ONLY HAS 37,000 KM AND BRAKE ROTORS DEVELOPED A WARP. PULSATION IS BEING FELT UPON MODERATE BRAKING. I AM NOT ONE TO BE HARD ON BRAKES AND HAVE NEVER HAD TO PANIC STOP THUS NOT HAVING TO OVER HEAT THE BRAKES. NEXT ISSUE THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE BUTTON IS PUSHED. THE CLOCK ON THE RADIO DOES NOT KEEP TIME . THIS IS NOT OUR DAILY DRIVER AND...
THE FIRST TIME I TOOK FOR INSPECTION AT DEALERSHIP, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON. THEY SAID CODE WAS 6TH CYLINDER AND RESET, AND HAD TO COME BACK NEXT DAY. IT RECENTLY CAME ON AGAIN AND NOW HAVE TO TAKE BACK TO SHOP, BECAUSE THE POWER AND ENGINE HESITATES, HAS ISSUES GOING UP HILLS, AND SCARES ME ON LONG RIDES. IT IS NOW PAST THE 35,000 MILE AND INTO MY EXTRA WARRANTY I PAID FOR. TIRES ALL WEAR BADLY TOO, CAR NEEDS FULL ALIGNMENT. HOPING THEY WILL NOT JUST RESET AND ACTUAL FIX THE 6TH CYLINDER, UNFORTUNATELY THE LIGHT COMES AND GOES. ITS NOT THE TIRES THAT ARE A PROBLEM, IT IS THE BAD ALIGNMENT CAUSING IT TO WEAR WRONG. TIRES AREN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, SO THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO LEAVE THE CAUSE OF THE DEFECT UNFIXED SO EVERY NEW TIRE YOU PUT ON GETS RUINED. IF THEY FIX 6TH CYLINDER...
ISSUE WITH 2012 DODGE JOURNEY CREW: DODGE ONLY OFFERED 19" WHEEL BUT PUT AN UNDERSIZED 16" SPARE TIRE IN CAR. THE DIMENSION OF WHEEL DODGE USED TAKES A TIRE THAT IS NOT READILY AVAILABLE AND ONLY MANUFACTURED BY A SMALL NUMBER OF TIRE PRODUCERS. THIS SITUATION PUTS AN OWNER IN A PREDICAMENT WHEN A TIRE FAILS. POSSIBLY BE STUCK SOME WHERE IT IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO OBTAIN A TIRE OR WEEKS TO GET OR HAVE TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES ON A WHEEL THAT IS SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT IN DIAMETER THAN THE OTHER WHEELS. THIS IS NOT A SAFE SITUATION. MY PERSONAL INFORMATION IS NOT NEEDED BY YOU OR ANY ONE ELSE. THE ABOVE STATEMENTS ARE FACTS WHICH SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. WE PURCHASED A NEW 2012 JOURNEY IN MARCH 2012 FROM ARE LOCAL DODGE DEALER...BOUGHT A NEW VEHICLE BECAUSE WE DID NOT WANT TO BE SHELLING OUT MONEY FOR REPAIRS....HAVE BEEN A DODGE CUSTOMER FOR SOME 20 YRS... ALL IN ALL..I LOVE MY JOURNEY...CAN'T SAY THE SAME FOR THE DEALER OR CHRYSLER.. IN MARCH OF 2013 AT ABOUT 12,500 MY MECHANIC SUGGESTED I MIGHT WANT TO GET ALIGNMENT CHECKED OUT BECAUSE THE FRONT TIRES WERE WEARING ABNORMALLY...I TRIED TO CALL THE DEALER ABOUT THE WARRANTY TO SEE IF THIS WAS COVERED...THEY NEVER CALLED ME BACK....ON 6/15/13 AT ABOUT 13,000...I WENT BACK TO MY GUY...HE INFORMED ME THAT THE FRONT TIRES WERE INDEED BALD ALREADY, AND SUGGESTED I GO TO THE DEALER TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD DO....I WAS GREETING BY A VERY SMUG, COCKY AND RUDE SERVICE MANAGER NAMED JOHN.....HE TOLD ME CHRYSLER DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THE TIRES OR THE...
HAVE HAD MY DODGE PURCHASED NEW FOR A LITTLE LESS THAN ONE YEAR. AT AROUND 20,000 MILES I NOTICED THE TIRES SEEMED TO BE WEARING EXCESSIVELY WHICH I THOUGHT WAS STRANGE WITH NEW TIRES. I REQUESTED AT MY NEXT OIL CHANGE TO HAVE THEM ROTATED TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP. NEVER PAID IT MUCH MORE ATTENTION UNTIL MY TRACTION LIGHT KEPT COMING ON WHEN DRIVING IN REGULAR WEATHER CONDITIONS IN ADDITION TO WET CONDITIONS. I CONTACTED THE DEALER HAD MY CAR INSPECTED. THE SUSPENSION AND ALIGNMENT SEEMED TO BE FINE THERE WAS NO EXPLANATION WHY MY TIRES AT THAT POINT 28,000 WERE BALLED AND DOWN TO THE TREAD INDICATORS ON ALL FOUR TIRES. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED KUMHO WHO ADVISED I DID NOT HAVE A WARRANTY FOR REGULAR TREAD WEAR AND DODGE STATES THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TIRES THE WARRANTY IS THROUGH KUMHO. WELL WOULD YOU EXPECT...
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON JUNE 15,2012. UNEXPECTEDLY, ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2012 MY VEHICLE LOST CONTROL AT THE LOCATION I 287NB EXIT 41A PARSIPPANY RAMP ONTO 80 E TRAFFIC THEN MY VEHICLE LOST CONTROL AND SLAMMED ONTO THE GUARD RAIL REPEATEDLY. I IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED JOHN JOHNSON OF THE INCIDENT AND I PLEADED FOR THEM TO SEND ME A TOW TRUCK BECAUSE OF MY 100,000 MI WARRANTY. FURTHER, I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURERS CHRYSLER GROUP AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. EVENTUALLY, BECAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT CAUSE AND EFFECT THEY TOOK THE VEHICLE AND SEND FOR A CONTRACTOR INSPECTOR FROM PENNSYLVANIA TO INSPECT THE CAR. AFTER THE INSPECTION, THE CONTRACTOR CONTACTED ME AND TOLD ME HE IS SENDING IN THE REPORT TO CHRYSLER AND WAIT A WEEK BEFORE CONTACTING THEM FOR A COPY OF THE REPORT. MOREOVER, I FOLLOWED UP, AND CHRYSLER COULD NOT TELL ME WHO WAS HANDLING MY CASE. FINALLY, AFTER PURSUING...
