DEALER IS SAYING THE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTING OUT AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS ALMOST NO RUST ON THE VEHICLE YET THIS IMPORTANT PART OF THE FRAME IS RUSTING OUT?
OUR 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA (156,595 MILES) PASSED OUR ANNUAL STATE INSPECTION, BUT WE NEEDED TO TRAVEL 1000 MILES, SO WE ASKED OUR MECHANIC TO GIVE IT A MORE THOROUGH LOOK JUST TO MAKE SURE IT COULD HANDLE A LONG DISTANCE TRIP. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE ENGINE CRADLE LOOKED FINE, BUT HE HAPPENED TO FEEL IT MOVE, SO HE USED A CAMERA TO INSPECT THE HIDDEN UPPER SIDE. GOOD THING HE DID! THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS PRACTICALLY RUSTED THROUGH, AND THE ENGINE COULD HAVE DROPPED OUT IF WE HIT A SIGNIFICANT BUMP. I WAS SHOCKED TO DISCOVER THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT, BUT ONLY RECALLED A HAND-FULL OF CARS. THIS IS A DISGRACE. MY FAMILY COULD HAVE DIED, AND MANY OTHERS ARE AT RISK FOR A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT IS NOT EASILY SPOTTED ON A ROUTINE INSPECTION. NOT TO MENTION, WE HAD TO PAY NEARLY $3000 FOR...
I WENT FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE CAGE IS SEVERELY ROTTING AWAY AND DRIVING MY CAR IS A ROAD HAZARD. I ONLY HAVE 138,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND WOULD LIKE TO DRIVE IT UNTIL IT DIES...BUT RIGHT NOW I WAS TOLD THE REPLACEMENT PART IS NO LONGER MADE AND I WOULD HAVE TO FIND A SALVAGE CAR TO FIND A REPLACEMENT PART. THE QUADRANT REMAINS THAT I BOUGHT A USED CAR FROM A CHRYSLER DEALER THAT SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE RECALL ON THIS PART DUE TO IT NOT BEING MANUFACTURED CORRECTLY FOR CORROSION RESISTANCE. APPARENTLY I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. IF I WERE TO SELL IT I WOULD BE PASSING A DANGEROUS CAR ON TO SOMEONE ELSE...I STILL OWE ON THIS CAR AND IT IS WORTH LESS THAN WHAT I OWE LET ALONE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE TO WORK 75...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE RUST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,725. UPDATED 01/24/2017*CT *CN
WE HAVE A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING EDITION WITH 69005 MILES. BEAUTIFUL AUTOMOBILE, WE STORE IT IN THE WINTER, NO RUST ANYWHERE ON THE BODY. WE BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND NYS INSPECTION. THE DEALER INFORMED US THAT THE FRONT AND REAR CRADLE OF THE FRAME HAD RUSTED AND DETERIORATED SO BADLY THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT PASS NYS INSPECTION AND WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE COST TO REPAIR WAS $4626.00. I FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT STATED THAT CHRYSLER WAS EXTENDING THE WARRANTY ON THE PACIFICA TO VEHICLES IN THE CANADIAN MARKET AND SALT BELT STATES TO 150,000 MILES BUT FOR REASONS THAT THEY WOULD NOT EXPLAIN, MY VEHICLE WAS COVERED EVEN THOUGH I LIVE IN UPSTATE NY, AN OBVIOUS SALT BELT STATE. THIS IS CLEARLY A LATENT DEFECT IN THIS MODEL RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED BY...
SUB FRAME. HOLDING IN THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION RUSTING OUT. NOT COATED PROPERLY WHEN BUILT. DISCOVERED WHILE DOING OIL CHANGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS FRACTURED AND HAD SEVERE RUST. THE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000. UPDATED 01/05/16*LJ UPDATED 02/14/17.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCED VERY HARD SHIFTING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER WHO DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED AND CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR NEW TIRES AND AN ALIGNMENT AND WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT I HAVE RUST ROT IN THE SUBFRAME. WHICH NOW I KNOW IS CALLED CRADLE ROT. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO.
AT THE SERVICE DEALER TODAY I WAS TOLD THAT MY ENGINE CARRIAGE FRAME IS SO RUSTED THAT IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THE SIDES ARE ALSO SEVERELY RUSTED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND HAVE SERVICED IT EVERY 3000 MILES. I GO THROUGH THE CAR WASH IN THE WINTER ALOT. I LEARNED THAT CHRYSLER WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM EARLY ON. WHY WAS I NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS, SO MY CAR COULD HAVE BEEN UNDER COATED ( WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE AS SOON AS THE PROBLEM WAS NOTICED) AND I COULD STILL BE DRIVING IT. I AM 71 AND ON SS, AND PLANNED ON THIS BEING MY LAST CAR. NOW, IT CAN'T BE FIXED AND I COULDN'T WITH A CLEAR CONSCIENCE TRADE OR SELL IT. WOULDN'T WANT A FAMILY WITH KIDS IN THE CAR, GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND HAVE THE ENGINE FALL OUT. THIS IS A SAFETY...
DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, MY NEW MECHANIC SHOWED ME CORROSION ON MY ENGINE CRADLE AND DECLARED IT UNFIT FOR TRAVEL. HE SHARED THAT WHILE CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, THEY ARE NOT SUPPORTING THE REPAIRS, OF WHICH, WILL COST ME $4500, OUT OF POCKET. WITHOUT SAID SUPPORT, I WILL UNFORTUNATELY NEED TO WALK AWAY FROM THIS CAR. IT SHOULD ALSO BE NOTED, MY PREVIOUS MECHANIC WAS A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND THIS WAS NEVER BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION AS A CONCERN, INCLUDING WHEN I REPORTED KNOCKING COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF MY VEHICLE AND WAS SEEKING A SOLUTION.
AT 90,562 MILES FELT VIBRATION UNDER UPHILL LOAD. DEALER EVALUATED AND SERVICED TRANS W/FILTERS AND FLUID WITH NO RESULT. (SEE SCAN 0008) WENT ON TO INSTALL NEW TORQUE CONVERTER WITH NO RESULT. (SEE SCAN 0009) TOOK CAR IN FOR TUNE-UP, AND MECHANIC SAW THAT ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED THROUGH ON 1 SIDE ABOUT 18". TOOK CAR TO DEALER FOR DAMAGE DOCUMENTATION AND ESTIMATE OF REPAIR (SEE SCAN 0010) CLASSIFIED BY DEALER AS MAJOR DEFECT THAT WILL SOON MAKE THE CAR ROAD UNWORTHY. MY INTENTION WAS TO KEEP THE CAR FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER 80K MILES.
ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED ALMOST ALL THE WAY THROUGH AND ENGINE CAN FALL OUT.
MY ENGINE IS ABOUT TO FALL THROUGH THE SUV BECAUSE OF RUST AND AFTER READING UP ON THIS...THIS ISN'T THE FIRST CASE OF THIS HAPPENING AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HASN'T BEEN RECALLED!!!
JUST GOT NEW TIRES NO MENTION, THEY USED FLOOR JACKS. GETTING NEW FRONT STRUTS AND REAR WHEEL SPINDLES (GETTING READY FOR WINTER) AND MY MECHANIC SHOWED ME THE CRADLE ROT AND SAID HE WOULDN'T TOUCH IT AND EXPLAINED THE SAFETY ISSUES RELATED. COST POTENTIALLY ASSOCIATED WITH REPAIR. COST TO REPAIR IS MORE THAN THE VEHICLE IS WORTH.
FRONT SUBFRAME ,ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED SO SEVERELY THAT MY MECHANIC SAID THAT IT IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE, MUST BE REPLACED AT A COST OF APPROX $2000.00 CAR WAS PURCHASED BY ME NEW IN 2005 AND GARAGE KEPT ONLY 107,000 MILES
ENGINE CRADLE IS BADLY RUSTED THROUGH AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF $2,600 ESTIMATE FROM MECHANIC.
MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN AVERAGE MILES ON IT AND THE ENGINE CRADLE HAS ROTTED SO BADLY THAT OUR MECHANIC SAID IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE , THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT COAT THIS PART PROPERLY WHICH CAUSED THIS PROBLEM
CRADLE ROT ON THE UNDER CARRIAGE
DURING A MECHANICAL EVALUATION FOR A CLUNKING NOISE AND POSSIBLE WHEEL BEARING PROBLEM IN THE FRONT END, THE VEHICLE WAS RAISED ON A LIFT FOR INSPECTION. THE ENGINE SUB-FRAME WAS FOUND TO BE BADLY RUSTED WITH HOLES COMPLETELY THROUGH THE METAL. THE CLUNKING NOISE WAS SUSPECTED TO BE THE ROTTING SUB-FRAME FLEXING WHILE STEERING AND ACCELERATION/DECELERATION. THE MECHANIC DECLINED TO MAKE ANY REPAIRS AND I WAS ADVISED TO PARK THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE SUB-FRAME COULD BE REPLACED. I WAS ALSO ADVISED TO CALL CHRYSLER SINCE A RECALL WAS ISSUED ON A PORTION OF THESE VEHICLES. MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH IT HAD BEEN MANUFACTURED AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME, WAS PURCHASED IN WESTERN PA AND OPERATED IN THE "SALT BELT". WE'VE ENJOYED OWNING THIS CAR AND MY WIFE WANTED TO RETIRE THE CAR TO OUR HOME IN FLORIDA. SHE HAD JUST DRIVEN THE CAR...
WE FOUND THAT OUR CAR HAD A LEAK, WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE A HOLE IN THE WATER PUMP. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN ALSO TOLD US THAT THE SUBFRAME IS ROTTING OUT AND WE SHOULD SERIOUSLY CONSIDER LOOKING FOR A NEW VEHICLE AS THIS COULD BECOME A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM OUT ON THE ROAD.

I WAS INFORMED DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE THAT MY ENGINE CRADLE WAS ROTTED OUT AND COULD POTENTIALLY FALL OUT WHILE DRIVING. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT ONLY HAD ABOUT 64,000 MILES ON IT AND OTHER THAN A SMALL AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE REAR WHEEL WELLS, IT IS FAIRLY RUST FREE.
RECEIVED NOTICE ON OUR ANNUAL INSPECTION FROM GARAGE THAT UNDERBODY ALL RUSTING OUT, SPECIFICALLY LEFT FRONT FRAME RAIL. CHRYSLER ONLY DOING A "SILENT RECALL" FOR THIS VEHICLE IF BUILT BETWEEN FEBRUARY - MARCH 2005. OURS BUILT OCTOBER. NOT ELIGIBLE. WE HAVE NEVER BEEN INFORMED OF THIS RUST/CORROSION PROBLEM BY CHRYSLER.

HAVE HAD A MECHANIC TELL ME AFTER VEHICLE INSPECTION THAT ENGINE CRADLE ON PASSENGER SIDE WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. HE FEELS THE CAR IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. CONTACTED FCA WAS TOLD NO RECALLS OR ASSISTANCE WOULD BE PROVIDED. DIDN'T WE THE TAXPAYERS BAIL THIS COMPANY OUT FOR NO HELP.

I RECENTLY HAD SOME WORK DONE ON MY CHRYSLER PACIFICA AND MY MECHANIC FOUND THAT I HAD TWO LARGE ROTTED OUT HOLES IN MY ENGINE CRADLE. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THE GENTLEMAN IN CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED OVER AND OVER AGAIN THAT MY AUTO WAS TEN YEARS OLD. I WENT TO GO USE THE WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED AT CARS 4 YOU, LLC AND FOUND OUT THAT THE DEALER NEVER SUBMITTED THE APPLICATION FOR THE WARRANTY BUT POCKETED THE MONEY FROM THE FINANCE COMPANY. HONOR FINANCE KNEW WHAT THE DEALER HAD DONE TO FEW PEOPLE BUT DID NOT FEEL THE NEED TO WARN EVERYONE WHO BOUGHT AN AUTO FROM THE SAME DEALER. HERE I AM WITH A PACIFICA THAT I OWE 6,000.00 NO WARRANTY AND TWO LARGE HOLES IN MY ENGINE CRADLE. NEVER EVER WILL I BUY A CHRYSLER PRODUCT. THEIR MOTTO IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IS PRIORITY ONE BUT THIS MUST...
TOOK THE 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THE TECHNICIAN BROUGHT THIS TO OUR ATTENTION AND WOULD NOT PERFORM THE OIL CHANGE BECAUSE HE DID NOT FEEL SAFE. NOW I HAVE TO FIND SOME WAY TO COME UP WITH $3000 ‐ 5000 TO REPAIR. I STILL OWE $7000 ON IT. MY WIFE AND 2 CHILDREN RIDE IN THIS ON A DAILY BASIS AND NOW THE ENGINE COULD JUST DROP OUT OF IT.
I BOUGHT A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN MAY OF 2016. WHEN I TOOK IT TO A GARAGE DUE TO A CLUNKING SOUND IN THE FRONT END IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED THROUGH ON BOTH SIDES. MANY AREAS UNDER THE CAR ARE VERY BADLY RUSTED LIKE A CAR THREE TIMES AS OLD.
SUBFRAME NEAR ENGINE MOUNT IS RUSTED THROUGH.
WHILE HAVING MY BRAKES DONE, THE MECHANIC INFORMS ME THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE/CROSS BRACE IS NEARLY RUSTED THROUGH AND THAT THE ENGINE MAY FALL OUT AT ANY MOMENT. THERE IS ONLY A SINGLE BOLT HOLDING THE ENGINE IN. I DON'T YET HAVE PICTURES TO UPLOAD. NO RECALL WARNING WAS EVER RECEIVED AND I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 8 YEARS.
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. I RECENTLY TOOK IT IN FOR APPRAISAL AS A TRADE-IN TOWARDS A NEWER VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE DUE TO SEVER CRADLE ENGINE ROT. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST CHRYSLER FOR THIS VERY ISSUE ON THIS VERY VEHICLE. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO SELL IN SPITE OF IT BEING IN GREAT OPERATING CONDITION AND THE REST OF THE EXTERIOR BEING IN GOOD CONDITION. CHRYSLER NEVER NOTIFIED ME OF THIS KNOWN DEFECT. NOW I AM STUCK WITH A CAR THAT I CANNOT SELL BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN DEEMED UNSAFE. I DO NOT FEEL THAT I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING THIS ROT (IF IT EVEN CAN BE REPAIRED), AS IT NOW APPEARS (FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ONLINE) THAT CHRYSLER WAS VERY WELL AWARE OF THIS DEFECT AND CHOSE...
RUSTED ENGINE CRADLE WITH FRACTURED FRAME MOUNTING DISCOVERED WHEN SEARCHING FOR A DRIP SOURCE UNDER THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT, YET THE CORPORATION DID NOT WARN ME OF THIS PROBLEM, DESPITE A RECALL FOR OTHER PACIFICAS MADE WITHIN A VERY NARROW MANUFACTURING WINDOW OF TIME. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND NOW PROVIDES A RISK TO DRIVING. WHAT AM I TO DO?
TYPICAL RUST THROUGH OF ENGINE CRADLE SUB FRAME (K FRAME) OF A PACIFICA SUV ALMOST CAUSING THE ENGINE TO DROP THROUGH TO THE GROUND. DISCOVERED THE RUST THROUGH, AND SUBSEQUENT ENGINE SHIFT, IN MID OCTOBER 2015 @ APPROXIMATELY 144,000 MILES, WHILE CAR WAS UP ON A LIFT. CAR WAS NO LONGER DRIVABLE DUE TO THIS CONDITION. HAD A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP'S REPAIR SHOP TO REPLACE THE CRADLE FRAME AND MOTOR MOUNTS SHORTLY THEREAFTER. THEY DISAVOWED ANY HELP OR THEIR INVOLVEMENT IN GETTING CHRYSLER TO COVER THE REPAIR OF A KNOWN DEFECT. CALLED CHRYSLER'S CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD MY PACIFICA WAS NOT PART OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUED FOR A SMALL NUMBER OF AND SHORT PRODUCTION RUN OF PACIFICAS. AM ATTEMPTING TO AGAIN CONTACT CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE VIA LETTER AND ASK FOR HELP WITH THE COST OF REPAIRS. ALSO TRYING TO JOIN THE CLASS ACTION GROUP THAT IS SUING CHRYSLER...
TOOK MY 2005 PACIFICA TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC FOR AN OIL CHANGE. WAS TOLD THAT THE LOWER SUB-FRAME ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WAS RUSTED AND CORRODED. HE SAID IT COULD HAVE BEEN DUE TO CONDENSATION FROM THE A/C OR ROAD SALT. WILL SOON BE REPLACING THE VEHICLE SINCE IT'S NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. VERY SHAMEFUL THAT I SEE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT RUST DAMAGE ON THE LOWER FRAME AND STILL NO RECALL.

DRIVING TO WORK AND I NOTICE THAT THE SMALL SNOW BUILD UP IN THE CENTER OF THE ROAD WAS HITTING MY UNDER CARRIAGE SO I GO TO MY MECHANIC ON THE WAY HOME AND HE LOOKS UNDER THE CAR. I DIDN'T REALIZE WHEN I HAD HIM TAKE A LOOK IT WOULD BE THE LAST TIME I COULD DRIVE THAT CAR UNLESS I WANTED TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX THE ROTTED SUBFRAME THAT HOLDS MY ENGINE IN. CHRYSLER KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO FIX IT. MY MECHANIC SAYS THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN WITH A CAR, WHICH MAKES SENSE THAT YOU NEED YOUR ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION NOT TO FALL OUT! IS THERE A NUMBER OF INJURIES AND FATALITIES THAT HAVE TO HAPPEN BEFORE THE MAKERS WILL RECALL A CAR FOR A PROBLEM THEY KNOW IS HAPPENING?

PURCHASED 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA LIMITED 4 YEARS AGO. CURRENTLY 109,000 MILES.. HAD BEEN HEARING A CLUNKY NOISE FOR A SHORT TIME TOOK IT IN TO GET CHECKED😔 MECHANIC CAME BACK WITH GHASTLY NEWS. TIE RODS,BUSHINGS, WATER PUMP,REAR AXLE SHAFT OILSEAL AND WORST OF ALL CRADLE WAS RUSTING THROUGH. OVER $7000.00 TO FIX ALL. I THOUGHT I WOULD FAINT. NO WAY COULD I DO ALL THE REPAIRS. UPON READING ALL COMPLAINTS CHRYSLER SHOULD FIX THE RUSTIMG PROBLEM. SHAME ON THEM FOR LETTING THESE CARS ON THE ROAD KNOWING THIS COULD HAPPEN TO FAMILIES PURCHASING THEIR VEHICLES AND POSSIBLY HAVING A FATAL ACCIDEMT OCCURING WHEN THE ENGINE FALLS OUT.

THE POWER STEERING WAS LEAKING AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.
