THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.

MY CAR HAS HAD THE POWER STEERING RACK REPLACED 3 TIMES WITHIN A 6 MONTHS TIME FRAME. MY TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AND IT SEEMS TO BE SLIPPING AGAIN I HAVE HAD IT REPLACED UNDER A YEAR AGO. I WAS DRIVING WHEN I NOTICED MY CAR SLIPPING FROM 11ST FEAR INTO SECOND. THE DEFROST DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY AND ALL WINDOWS ARE FROZEN MAKING IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE.

MY WHEEL STARTED TO CLUCK EVERY TIME I DRIVE, THEN MY SPEED WANT GO AS IT AHOULD
TAKATA RECALL. I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND REALIZED I HAD FORGOTTEN MY PURSE AND WHEN I TRIED TO BACK UP TO GET MY PURSE, THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND ALMOST GOT STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. A FEW MEN CAME TO HELP PUSH THE CAR OUT OF THE ROAD. AFTER CHECKING A FEW RHINGS, THEY TOLD ME THAT MY TRANSMISSION HAD GONE OUT.
TAKATA RECALL. I WAS DRIVING THE CAR WHEN AT A MOMENTS NOTICE THE CAR SHUT OFF POWER STEERING WAS LOST THE CAR VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND ANOTHER CAR SLAMMED INTO MY PASSENGER SIDE SWIPING ME.

THE TRANSMISSION WAS CRACKED-CHEVROLET SAID NOT THEIR FAULT, SO, I REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THEN, IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. I REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS. IT STOPPED. THEN, STARTED UP AGAIN. TOOK TO THE CHEVROLET GARAGE WHO PUT IT ON THEIR TOTAL DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. TOLD I NEED BOTH BEARINGS ON THE FRONT. AT A $972.00 PRICE TAG FOR THIS, I BOUGHT THE BEARINGS AND HAD ANOTHER GARAGE PUT THEM ON AT A GREAT REDUCTION IN COST TO ME ON LABOR. NOW, IT IS DOING IT AGAIN. STEERING GEAR MOUNT BROKE AND CAUSED SUDDEN COMPLETE STEERING LOSE DUE TO CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF RACK AND PINION STEERING SYSTEM. WHEN THE MOUNT BROKE THE STEERING HOUSING CONTAINING THE POWER STEERING FLUID AND POWER STEERING FLUID HOSES BROKE RESULTING IN LOSS OF STEERING. I WAS TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 60 MPH GOING UPHILL. I DID NOT HAVE IT IN CRUISE CONTROL. IWAS PASSING A SEMI. SUDDENLY THE STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT, AND THE BRAKES SEEMED HARD TO PUSH. I FINALLY MANAGED TO GET THE CAR OFF THE ROAD AND STOPPED. I PUT IN PARK AND GOT OUT TO CHECK AND SEE IF ONE OF THE TIRES HAD BLOWN OUT, I LEFT IT RUNNING. THE TIRES WERE FINE. I GOT BACK IN AND PUT IT IN GEAR AND EASED DOWN ON THE GAS TO SEE HOW IT WAS GOING TO GO. IT DID FINE, I DROVE IT THE REST OF THE DAY AND IT SEEMED TO BE NORMAL. I AM CONCERNED THIS COULD BE CONNECTED TO THE IGNITION RECALL BACK IN 2014 AND WORRY THAT IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN. MY HUSBAND IS ATTEMPTING TO GET IT LOOKED AT BY MECHANIC.

I WAS PUTTING FLUID IN TWICE A DAY JUST SO I WOULD BE ABLE TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK. I FINALLY HAD THE MONEY TO TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT I HAD A WHOLE IN MY POWER STEERING LINE OR COOLER. PROBABLY BOTH BUT HE SAID IT WAS SPRAYING EVERY WHERE. I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THIS CAR FOR A YEAR YET AND I BOUGHT IT FROM A REPUTABLE DEALER. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS USED THEY LOOKED IT OVER VERY WELL FOR ME BECAUSE MY MOM KNOWS THE OWNER. I CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE THIS FIXED NOR CAN I AFFORD TO KEEP PUTTING POWER STEERING FLUID IN DAILY. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM AND I KNOW IF...
I WAS GOING OVER THE VEHICLE FOR THE SEASON AND FOUND I HAD A LEAK IN THE POWER STEERING LINE. THE LINE EFFECTED WAS COVERED WITH A RIBBED PLASTIC SHEATHING LIKE WHAT IS USED FOR A WIRE HARNESSES. THE SHEATHING CAUSED ROAD SALT TO BUILD UP AND CORRODE THE LINE, CAUSING A LEAK AND LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THERE WERE TWO LINES HELD TOGETHER, SIDE BY SIDE, WITH A PLASTIC BRACKET BUT ONLY ONE OF THOSE HAD THE SHEATHING AND I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT WAS THERE. I ALSO FOUND A WIRE THAT OVERHEATED AND MELTED THE INSULATION AND LEFT THE WIRE BARE. IT'S LOCATED BEHIND THE POWER STEERING PUMP AS VIEWED FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT UNDER THE PLASTIC THAT DISPLAYS THE ENGINE SIZE. THE PLASTIC IS HELD DOWN WITH A COUPLE OF PINS THAT THE PLASTIC PUSHES DOWN OVER WHEN INSTALLED. THE DEALER COULDN'T TELL...

THIS ISSUE OCCURS WHEN TURNING DURING LOW SPEEDS WHICH INCLUDES PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, PARKING SPOTS AND INTERSECTIONS. WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO MAKE A TURN, THE ABS ENGAGES WHICH CAUSES A REDUCTION OF POWER AND FORCED BRAKING. THIS HAPPENS DURING ANY TYPE OF WEATHER AND ON ANY TYPE OF SURFACE PAVEMENT, THE CAR IS NOT EXPERIENCING ANY REAL LOSS OF TRACTION, THE ABS SIMPLY IS ENGAGING IN ERROR. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS, IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR AT AN INOPPORTUNE TIME, MY CARS ABS MAY ENGAGE WHILE I AM AT AN INTERSECTION, OR MAKING A LEFT TURN WHILE TRAFFIC IS ONCOMING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS FAILURES WITH THE STEERING WHEEL, THE ENGINE, THE BRAKES, AND SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC AND THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT FLUID WAS LEAKING AT THE ENGINE, THE POWER STEERING WHEEL AND THE BRAKE LINES. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE OF THE EXACT REPAIRS HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION FAILURE WAS RECENTLY EXPERIENCED AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT 90,000.
I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR ABOUT FIVE HOURS AT SPEEDS OF 70 MPH. STOPPED AT A FAST FOOD PLACE AND PULLED IN TO THE PAY WINDOW AND HEARD A CLUNK. I NOTICE A FUNNY SOUND WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. I DROVE OVER TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. I WAS TOLD THE POWER STEERING RACK SEALS ARE STARTING TO LEAK. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT A LOT OF 2007 IMPALA'S IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM IN DIFFERENT STATES. I SEE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS TO NHTSA BUT NO ONE IS REQUESTING A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM I CAN NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY. GMC IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. 2007 IMPALA SS THAT I HAVE OWNED SINCE APRIL 2011 AND BOUGHT WITH 24,000 MILES.THE PROBLEM IS WITH REAR TIRES ON THE CAR WEARING WITIHIN ONE MONTH AFTER REPLACING, THE INSTALATION OF TIRES IS FOLLOWED BY A PROFESSIONAL ALIGNMENT AND THE TIRES STILL WEAR DOWN TO THE WIRES. I HAVE BEEN THROUGH SEVERAL SETS OF TIRES AND ALIGNMENTS SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND HAVE NOT YET FOUND A FIX OTHER THAN TIRES AND ALIGNMENT.
