Bulletin Summary
This article supersedes TSB 24-2189 to update the service procedure and add 2025 affected vehicles. Some 2021-2025 F-150 non-Raptor vehicles equipped with an ESOF transfer case (minor feature code FMLAS) may exhibit an intermittent grinding/hum/rumble noise from the front wheel area while in 2WD that goes away when the vehicle is put into 4WD. These vehicles will also have no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored in the transfer case control module (TCCM). To confirm a vehicle is built with a certain minor feature code, review the build information by double-clicking the vehicle identification number (VIN) in the upper left corner in the Professional Technician System (PTS). This may be due to incomplete disengagement of the integrated wheel end (IWE) actuator assemblies.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
