Bulletin Summary
Due to variations in production, certain exhaust manifold mounted catalytic converters may experience catalyst layer separation on affected vehicles. If this occurs, the MIL will illuminate with DTC P0421 or P0431, "Warm Up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold" stored in the PCM. Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. is extending the catalytic converter warranty only on affected vehicles currently registered in certain states from 8 years / 80,000 miles to 10 years / 120,000 miles.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
