Bulletin Summary
Some 2024-2025 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 2.7L engine, built on or after 27-Aug-2024 may exhibit an illuminated powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P1285 and/or P1299 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) and Engine Coolant Over Temperature and/or Service Vehicle Soon warning message displayed on the instrument panel cluster (IPC). This may be due to the cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor. Follow the Workshop Manual (WSM) 303-03A Engine Cooling - 2.7L EcoBoost > Diagnosis and Testing > Engine Temperature Pinpoint Test (PPT) DL1-DL10. If P1285 and/or P1299 is still present, replace the CHT sensor. Refer to WSM, Section 303-14A Electronic Engine Controls > Removal and Installation. For claiming use causal part 6G004 and labor operation 12650D and 12650D10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
