Bulletin Summary
A part number 035240052 check valve is installed in two locations on Certain DC series derricks built from January 2016 through February 2021. One check valve is installed in the control valve for the front bumper winch and another check valve is installed in the tandem pump as part of the secondary stowage DC pump option. Altec has discovered that the check valves have the potential for failure. When the check valve fails, the internal spring can dislodge from the housing and enter the hydraulic system. The hydraulic flow can carry it into the digger/winch control valve and cause one of the spools to bind in the closed position, disabling the function. Altec requires the 035240052 check valves to be replaced no later than the next preventive maintenance interval or 90 days from the receipt of this SIL, whichever comes first.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
