Bulletin Summary
Below Rotation Valve Driver (BRVD), Above Rotation Valve Driver (ARVD), and CAN bridge circuit boards on Altec derricks require the use of a clear potting compound so diagnostic light emitting diodes (LEDs) on the boards are visible for troubleshooting. Altec has discovered that a black potting compound was used on some of these circuit boards on the affected units, which prevents the LEDs from being visible. Altec requires that each unit be inspected for visibility of the diagnostic LEDs no later than the next periodic maintenance interval. Use the Inspection Procedure beginning on page 2. If circuit board replacement(s) are required, use the Replacement Procedure beginning on page 6.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
