Bulletin Summary
SIL 727 notified unit owners that Altec has discovered that a placard was installed on some cranes which has the incorrect torque for bolts used to attach the rotation bearing. This placard has torque values that do not agree with the values in the maintenance manual. This difference can cause rotation bearing fasteners to be insufficiently checked during the periodic torque inspections, possibly leading to accelerated bolt fatigue. Altec requires that the affected units be inspected for the correct rotation fastener torque placard.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
