Bulletin Summary
Altec has learned that a connection in the upper controls joystick on certain LS49 aerial devices built from August 2023 to July 2024 can fail due to water intrusion rendering the controller inoperable from the platform. If this failure happens with the boom elevated, the operator in the platform will need another person to use the lower controls to lower the platform. The manufacturer has redesigned the connection and is providing a replacement joystick to eliminate this issue.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
