Bulletin Summary
Altec has learned that Section 9 of the Maintenance and Parts Manual for Certain AC45E cranes built from September 2020 to November 2023 contains an incorrect torque value of 250 foot-pounds (339 Nâ¢m) for the rotation gearbox mounting cap screws. All other locations in the manual contain the correct torque value of 65 foot-pounds (88 Nâ¢m) for these cap screws. Torquing these cap screws to 250 foot-pounds (339 Nâ¢m) can result in breaking the bolts during rotation gearbox installation or maintenance. The Maintenance Manual has been updated to show the correct torque value.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
