Bulletin Summary
This Preliminary information communicates that a customer may bring a vehicle in with a complaint that the engine rpm increased and/or the vehicle downshifted for no reason. The dealer is instructed to test drive the vehicle and check for codes. If no cause of the concern is found and it cannot be duplicated the dealer technician is instructed to review operation of the tap shift operation in the owner's manual. The technician is then instructed to drive the vehicle with the customer and downshift the vehicle using temporary tap shift mode to demonstrate this feature to the customer and see if this is what the customer is experiencing. If the customer states that this is what they are experiencing the dealer is advised to educate the customer on the tap shift operation.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
