Attached is the Final Notification from Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz AG has determined that on certain Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles the retaining washer on the bolt connecting the brake pedal to its bearing block may loosen over time. If the retaining washer loosens, over time it could detach from the bolt. In the worst-case scenario and with ongoing use of the brake pedal, the bolt may slip out of the bearing block on one side. If this occurs, the brake light switch may become permanently activated, even when the brake pedal is not pressed. If the braking lights were permanently illuminated it would not be possible for following traffic to determine the intention of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. As soon as the bolt has slipped out of the bearing block on one side, the driver may notice the brake pedal to feel as if it is moving in a circular formation when being depressed. Owners who notice any issues with the mount of brake pedal on bearing block may contact their nearest Mercedes-Benz service partner immediately and have an appointment arranged for the vehicle to be inspected.
