Bulletin Summary

Revised fault code generation strategies issued for certain O2 sensor and Coolant Temp Sensor diagnostics. Currently a fault code may not be immediately generated or the MIL illuminated in the event that a fault has occurred. In extreme instances this may result in drivability issues such as: - Vehicle poor starting or non-starting. - Excessive engine rpm at idle. - Vehicle unable to re-start if the engine is stopped with the fault still present. - Unable to select D ? Drive or R ? Reverse if the engine idle speed is above 2000 rpm (automatic models only). - An increase in the brake pedal effort required to slow or stop the vehicle (automatic models only). The revised diagnostic strategy for this issue is now more robust, ensuring that potential issues are more promptly detected, hence reducing the risk of the driveability issues described above from occurring.

About Technical Service Bulletins

A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
