Bulletin Summary
Mailing second notice on not corrected customer letters on NHTSA Recall 15V642: Newmar Corporation has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in specific motor homes. On certain motorhomes, the emergency brake cable and pedal may not have been properly reinstalled after chassis modifications were done. As a result, the park brake system may not properly hold the vehicle even with the park brake pedal fully depressed. This could also cause the park brake system to remain partially engaged when the park brake pedal is released causing the brake shoes to drag on the drum and potentially overheat the brakes. These issues would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the parking brake foot pedal assembly.
About Technical Service Bulletins
A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is a document issued by a vehicle manufacturer to its dealers, describing a known issue with a specific vehicle or set of vehicles and the recommended procedure to fix it. Unlike recalls, TSBs are not mandatory and are typically only performed if an owner reports the related issue. However, TSBs can be an indicator of common problems with a vehicle.
