NHTSA Complaint #11711245 — 2018 GMC SIERRA 1500

The contact owns a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was shaking abnormally. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, who determined that the torque converter had failed. The torque converter was replaced, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, who replaced the torque converter a second time. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
