NHTSA Complaint #11543138 — 2018 FORD EDGE

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the contact felt the vehicle was driving rough and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed and stated that the #2 ignition coil was misfiring. The contact stated that coil #2 and the spark plug were replaced. On another occasion while at a complete stop the vehicle started over heating and the temperature gauge was rising. The contact was able to drive to the residence and added coolant, but the failure continued. The dealer was contacted and stated that coolant was leaking into the engine, and that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer was aware of the failure but had not diagnosed the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that there was no recall for the failure on the year, make, and model of the vehicle. The failure mileage was 86,000.
