NHTSA Complaint #11484280 — 2014 FORD EXPLORER

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH and other speeds, the vehicle overheated. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that when the vehicle was parked, the hood was extremely hot to the touch. There was also an odor of antifreeze and gasoline coming from under the hood. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the water pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
