Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, SMOKE WAS SEEN IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AND THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS HAD SHUT OFF. AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT FLAMES WERE PRESENT UNDER THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. DURING THE INCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED AWAY. A FIRE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE) THREE WEEKS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE AT PRATER FORD (704 S WALL ST, CALHOUN, GA 30701). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
