Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A RECALL NOTICED WAS RECEIVED UNDER CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COLONIAL FORD DEALER (120 FEDERAL RD # 126, DANBURY, CT 06811, (203) 748-3503) WHERE THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COOLANT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO COLONIAL FORD DEALER, AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A POOR PIN FIT CORRECTION #48802 P2560 NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING AT 20 MPH, THE COOLANT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, AND THE VEHICLE STALLED BUT WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE DRIVER NOTICED SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD THEN FLAMES APPEARED. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT AND DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 52,000.
