Consumer Description
VEHICLE HAS A PUSH BUTTON TO CLOSE TRUNK (HATCH). THE HATCH IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A SAFETY MECHANISM TO PREVENT ITEMS FROM BEING CRUSHED ON CLOSING. A PIECE OF LUGGAGE WAS BETWEEN THE LATCH AND THE TOP OF THE HATCH AND, ON CLOSING, BECAME WEDGED TO THE POINT THAT THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE HATCH WAS TO CUT THROUGH THE CAR FROM THE INSIDE (REAR SEATS FALL DOWN) TO ACCESS THE LATCH MECHANISM. IF A THE HATCH DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY RETRACT WITH A LUGGAGE STRAP (WHAT ELSE DOES ONE MUST OFTEN PUT IN THE TRUNK OF A CAR OTHER THAN LUGGAGE), SEEMS LIKELY THAT THE HAND OF A SMALL CHILD COULD LIKEWISE BE CRUSHED BY THE AUTOMATIC LATCHING MECHANISM. *TR
