Consumer Description

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 BMW X5. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE WATER PUMP AND THERMOSTAT HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V521000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
