Consumer Description

WHILE DRIVING, MY 2005 F-150 WOULD SUDDENLY ACT AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN NEUTRAL. THE WRENCH SYMBOL ON THE GAUGE PANEL WOULD ILLUMINATE, BUT THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THE ONLY WAY TO CLEAR THE PROBLEM WAS TO PULL OVER, PUT CAR IN PARK, SHUT ENGINE OFF, RESTART ENGINE AND SHIFT TO DRIVE. LUCKILY THIS NEVER HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT IT COULD HAVE LED TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HAD THE TRUCK REPAIRED, AND THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP. TRUCK HAS ONLY 58,800 MILES ON IT. I HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE ON THIS SITE AND OTHERS AND NHTSA REALLY SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE. *TR
